Tips & Advice

Maintain your valuable car safely for a long time with Hyundai scheduled maintenance.

Regular checks you should perform

Fluid Checks

Be sure to check your oil every couple of weeks (and remember to make sure the vehicle is on level ground when you do it!). Your engine will work most efficiently when filled to the 'Max' level with oil. Take care not to overfill it -- and ensure it does not fall below the 'Min' level.

Ensure the wiper jets are correctly aimed and that the washer bottle is not only full, but has an appropriate concentration of screen wash mix. More concentrate will be required in winter to help prevent freezing. And it's always worth checking your wiper blades for signs of cracking -- it's much better to notice the cracks in your wipers while stationary on your driveway, rather than in the fast lane of.

Tire Pressures

Look on the driver’s side door jamb or your owner’s manual to find the recommended cold tire PSI – literally “pounds per square inch” of pressure – for your front and rear tires.

If your front and rear tires require different pressure levels, write down the correct PSI for each to avoid getting confused as you move around your vehicle checking tire pressure.

Remove the valve cap from one of your tires. Then place the pressure gauge on the valve stem and press down hard enough so the hiss sound disappears and your gauge provides a reading. With a standard gauge, the air pressure will push a small bar out from the bottom of the gauge. Measurement units are etched into the bar. A digital gauge will show you the reading on a screen.

Tire Tread

To check your tyre’s tread depth, place an small coin into one of the principle circumferential grooves of your tyre. If the tread less than 3mm of tread left on your tyres - and it’s time for new tyre to keep you safe on the road!

Battery Care

Unplug any appliances when the car isn't running. When the car isn't running, appliances pull power directly from the battery. Unplug all cell phones, GPS navigators, or any other appliances plugged into the charging port once you turn the car off. Don’t plug anything back in until you start the car again.

Turn off the headlights and interior lights when the engine is off. Just like appliances, these lights pull power directly from the battery when the car isn’t running. Once you turn the car off, turn off all the lights that are on. Don’t start them up again until you start the engine.

Drive the car regularly to keep the battery charged. Car batteries recharge when you drive, so don’t leave the car sitting for weeks at a time. Take drives of at least 20 minutes once a week to give your battery enough time to recharge.

Keep your battery charged to 12 volts. This is the ideal voltage for a battery charge. If the battery falls below this level, its performance and lifespan will decrease. Get a voltmeter and connect the positive lead (red) to the battery's positive terminal and the negative lead (black) to the negative terminal. Hold them there for a few seconds and wait for the meter to produce a reading.

Attach a trickle charger to the battery if you don’t use it for long periods. A trickle charger hooks into a power outlet and provides a steady charge to the battery. This keeps the battery at the correct charge even when you don’t drive the car. It’s a useful appliance for cars that aren’t driven often. Connect the trickle charger the same way you could connect a normal charger. Hook the negative lead to the negative terminal first, then connect the positive lead. Then plug the charger in. Leave it attached until you drive the car again.

Fuel efficiency

1. Set the car tires to the proper inflation using pressure Hyundai standard.

2. Periodically service your vehicle at our dealerships as recommended in your owner's manual to keep your car in top shape.

3. Slow down. The faster you move, the harder your engine has to work to push through the air.

4. Accelerate smoothly with moderate throttle. Engines are most efficient with moderately throttle and at revolutions per minute (RPM)s up to their power peak.

5. Use quality fuel according to your vehicle specification.
