A new safety paradigm

Grandeur safety means preventing accidents, stopping automatically to check the surroundings and preventing the driver negligence for the protection of the driver and pedestrians under all circumstances.

  • 9-Airbag system
9-Airbag system Advanced airbags that are pressure controlled through concurrent detection of collision and passenger safety (passenger recognition sensor integrated into passenger seat) are built into the driver and passenger seats. A total of nine airbags, including a knee airbag for the driver's seat, airbags at the sides of the front and rear seats, and curtains for overturned vehicle accidents, protect the safety of the driver and passengers.
  • Improved chassis strength
Improved chassis strength The application of a hot stamping technique and high strength structural adhesives to the lightweight chassis , which is of the top level among vehicles of the same class, was expanded in order to ensure passenger safety. As a result, the average strength and torsional rigidity of the chassis were improved by 34% and 23% respectively, enhancing the performance to protect passengers in case of a collision.

Hyundai SmartSense

Hyundai Smart Sense, an intelligent safety technology applied to the Grandeur, ensures comfortable and safe driving.
It detects pedestrians and vehicles in front to prevent collisions, prevents lane departure and maintains a safe distance from other traffic vehicles. Hyundai Smart Sense also issues a warning when a vehicle is approaching from the blind spot and analyzes the driving pattern and level of fatigue to recommend a temporary stop for rest. In addition, the highway driving assist function helps the driver drive the car comfortably even for long distances.

  • Rear collision avoidance assist
Rear collision avoidance assist This is a function to issue a warning when vehicles approach from the blind spot or the back of the car, which cannot be checked with outer mirrors. When the car deviates from its lane or a risk of collision against vehicles on the sides or from the rear is detected, electronic stability control function controls the wheels in order to prevent collision.
  • Lane keeping assist system
Lane keeping assist system A camera installed at the top of the windshield recognizes lanes and, when lane departure is expected, this function assists in steering to prevent the car from deviating from the lane. Any one of the lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, and active steering assist functions can be selected.
This is a system to assist the car to drive in the middle of the lane and to keep an appropriate speed by simultaneously using speed limit information from the navigation system as well as lane information and clearance to the vehicle in front. The driver does not need to work the brake or acceleration pedals during long-distance driving or when the road is congested. Even steering wheel control is assisted to enable comfortable driving.

  • High beam assist (when LED headlamps are applied)
High beam assist (when LED headlamps are applied) This feature reduces the inconvenience of frequently using the high beam controls by automatically reducing the intensity of high beams when there are cars in front or driving on the opposite lane so as to keep the driver and other vehicles safe.
  • Smart cruise control (including stop & go)
Smart cruise control (including stop & go) The distance to the car in front is detected in order to keep a clearance and vehicle speed as set by the driver. Even when the car comes to a complete stop, the speed and distance control function is automatically activated when the vehicle in front starts moving (within 3 seconds).
  • Driver attention warning
Driver attention warning The driving conditions are displayed in five levels and, when the driver’s fatigue or negligent driving is detected, a pop-up message is displayed together with an alert sound so as to encourage the driver to take a rest.
  • Forward collision avoidance assist
Forward collision avoidance assist The signals from forward-looking radar and forward detection camera are comprehensively examined and, when a risk of collision with a vehicle in front or a pedestrian is detected, a warning is issued to the driver and brake operation is assisted as necessary.
