Efficiency and progress: the powertrain lineup.

The electrified 48V mild hybrid options reduce CO2 emissions by enhancing fuel efficiency. The intelligent Manual Transmission further reduces fuel consumption. If you prefer automatic, 48V mild hybrid options are available with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.

    1.0T 48V petrol engine.

    The 1.0-litre T-GDi engine is equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology for optimum efficiency. This engine is available with the choice of 6-speed manual or 7-speed DCT.

    1.5T 48V petrol engine.

    At the top of the range is the 1.5-litre T-GDi engine with 159PS, which also comes equipped with 48V mild hybrid technology. This is available as a 6-speed Intelligent Manual Transmission (iMT) or a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Max Power: 159PS, Max. Torque: 253 Nm

The 48V mild hybrid system.

The 48V mild hybrid powertrain system supports the combustion engine, adding electric power during the different stages of driving. Find out more about this innovative fuel-saving system.

    Comfort Start.

    The mild hybrid system is particularly useful in city traffic, with the Mild Hybrid Starter Generator (MHSG) supporting the combustion engine when re-starting after traffic stops. It supports a faster and smoother engine start with supplemental torque, drawing on energy from the 48V battery.

    Acceleration.

    Under acceleration, the starter generator supports the engine with 4 to 10 kW of power, depending on the battery system’s charge and the driver's accelerator input. Once the required speed is reached, the system shifts to neutral mode, delivering no power. As a result, CO2 emissions and fuel consumption can be reduced.

    Charging while driving.

    At a constant speed, the system either is at idle or acts as a generator charging the 48V battery, depending on the battery state of charge.

    Recuperation.

    In active braking or overrun phases, the rotating crankshaft powers the starter generator, which then recuperates a maximum output of 10 to 12 kW. The generator converts the kinetic braking energy into electricity and feeds it back into the 48V battery.

The enhanced Hyundai Smart Sense package – our cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems – is fully integrated into the i30, providing safety for you and peace of mind for those you love.

  1. Lane Following Assist (LFA).

    The i30 features Lane Following Assist (LFA). When activated, it keeps the car centred in its lane on motorways and city streets.

  2. Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA).

    Sensing the road ahead with radar and a camera, the FCA system automatically brakes when it detects sudden braking by the car ahead, or pedestrians and bicycles on the road.

  3. Blind Spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA).

    Using two radar sensors in the lower rear bumper, the system warns you of traffic in the blind spot area. Should you set the turn indicator in such a situation, it will sound an acoustic alert and brake to prevent collision.

  4. Rear Cross-traffic Collision-avoidance Assist (RCCA).

    When reversing out of areas with low visibility, the system not only warns the driver if vehicles approach from the side – it also applies the brakes automatically.

  5. Leading vehicle departure alert (LVDA).

    This clever feature for city driving alerts the driver when the vehicle in front departs from an idle state, like at a stoplight or in a traffic jam.

  6. Lane Keeping Assist (LKA).

    In case of an unintended lane departure, Lane Keeping Assist warns the driver and can apply counter steering torque to guide the car back to the lane.

  7. Driver Attention Warning (DAW).

    When a pattern of fatigue or distraction is identified, the system gets your attention with an alert and pop-up message suggesting a break.
