HYUNDAI EQUUS MAKES THE AUTO A FONDO’S TOP TEN BEST BUY CARS FOR 2011

Auto A Fondo recognizes the 2011 Hyundai Equus as the “Best Value” in the luxury car segment

FOUNTAIN VALLEY , Calif. , March 21, 2011 – Hyundai’s Equus sedan has been recognized as the “Best Buy” car in the luxury segment among Auto A Fondo’s Top Ten Best Buy Cars for 2011. Auto A Fondo is one of the leading Spanish language multimedia outlets with dedicated automotive content in the United States.  The 9th Annual Auto A Fondo’s Top Ten Best Buys are rated on innovative engineering, good exterior design as well as best-in-class ergonomics, excellent ride, outstanding fit and finish, and complete content packaging all at a competitive price.

“The 2011 Hyundai Equus is a car that’s making people think and talk. With a sophisticated powertrain and chassis, refined styling and loads of high-end amenities, there’s no questions about the quality of Hyundai,” said Ricardo Rodriguez Long, automotive editor, Auto A Fondo. “This is value priced luxury with the technology and content of fully-optioned flagship models giving the Japanese and Germans a run for their money.”

As Hyundai’s flagship rear-wheel-drive sedan, Equus contains many Hyundai firsts. One innovative new technology is the Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system, which governs ESC, the electronic parking brake, smart cruise control, the collision warning sensor and the seatbelt tensioning system for optimal safety. The seatbelt tensioning system works through sensors, which detect critical driving situations and retract the seatbelts accordingly to prevent passenger movement. The Equus’ dynamic safety package is further enhanced by the Lane Departure Warning System and driver’s knee airbags.

“Hyundai’s all-new flagship Equus, with higher residual value than Mercedes-Benz S-Class, BMW 7-Series, and Audi A8, began hitting showrooms in December to high demand and limited availability,” said Mike O’Brien, Vice President of Product and Corporate Planning, Hyundai Motor America.  “Smart luxury car buyers have discovered that traditional luxury brands simply can’t compete with the unique retail and ownership experience Hyundai provides for Equus owners without the typical six-figure price tags.”

This straightforward lineup of just two extremely well-equipped configurations enables a simple and elegant purchase experience, a key aspect of Hyundai’s innovative perspective on intelligent luxury, which also includes “Your Time, Your Place,” the industry’s first at-home vehicle demonstration program, the Valet Service program, which provides at-home pickup for Equus service and maintenance and the industry’s first iPad-based interactive owner’s manual.

The Auto a Fondo selection panel was composed of influential Hispanic automotive professionals in the United States: Casper Canul, pro-drifter; Roger Gutierrez, car designer; Hector Cademartori, automotive artist; Ricardo Rodriguez-Long, award-winning journalist; Diva Rescia, radio host; Andres Aiello, automotive journalist; Gerardo Lorenz, Univision Radio; Jose Pepe Forte, Automania Univision Radio; Joel Isquierdo, HPI-Racing-RC; Lucio Tapia, Aftermarket Specialist/K&N Filters; and Joey Cabrera, Aftermarket Specialist/Motul Oil.
