14th February, 2015 – Hyundai Motor Company, the world’s fastest-growing automaker by brand, has handed over the keys to an extensive fleet of its top selling models to the International Cricket Council (ICC), the global governing body for the sport. The ICC received delivery of a fleet of 102 Hyundai vehicles featuring the ix35 Australia’s number one Small SUV, award winning all-new Santa Fe, top-selling people mover, the iMax and soon-to-be-released all-new Sonata. The multipurpose fleet will be used for transporting VIP visitors, ICC Executives, Officials and teams including coaching staff and players throughout the World Cup event which will run from 14th February – 29th March 2014.

At an official handover ceremony held on 14th February at the world renown home of Australian cricket, the Melbourne Cricket Ground, Campbell Jamieson, ICC General Manager-Commercial, accepted the vehicle keys and said “We are absolutely delighted that Hyundai is supporting the ICC Cricket World Cup in Australia. An array of premium features and design elements ensure drivers and passengers are able to fully enjoy state-of-the-art technology, superior levels of comfort, and stylish interior and exterior design.

“Australian’s love their cricket, and they love their cars and that’s one of the reasons Hyundai are proud to be the official vehicle sponsor of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015,” said John Elsworth COO Hyundai Motor Company Australia. “As the official car partner we are delighted to hand over our premium range of cars knowing the stylish design, refined levels of comfort and cutting-edge technology will be appreciated by all those who drive or ride in our vehicles.”

In 2011 Hyundai signed a five-year deal with the ICC to become the organisation’s first official car sponsor. The agreement covers the ICC World Twenty20, the ICC Champions Trophy, and the ICC Cricket World Cup. The partnership is part of Hyundai’s efforts to expand its global sports marketing activities and boost its brand image worldwide which currently includes a variety of other sports, including football, golf, and WRC across a number of key global markets.
