June 7, 2001 - -Exports Continue to Lead Hyundai Motor Global Sales Figures Strong demand for Hyundai Motor vehicles in export markets helped the company continue its upward trend during May. Although the domestic market in Korea remains strong, it is export demand that is providing the company`s continuing surge in sales. In May exports reached 81,678 vehicles-up by 6.1 per cent on the April performance and up by 16 per cent over the same month last year. In Korea total sales of 63,986 showed an increase over April of one per cent and over May 2000 of almost 12 per cent. Exports on target For the year to date, export sales are on target to pass the one million mark for the year. During the first five months the total reached 375,349-up by 20 per cent over the same period last year. Domestic sales in the same period reached 282,096, an increase of five per cent and the overall total reached 657,445 for the first five months-up by 13 per cent from last year.
