Here at Hyundai Motor Group, we firmly believe in the potential for innovation. To honor that commitment, we’re spearheading a new era in the building of smart mobility with the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS).

In this bustling city of technological abundance, HMGICS will redefine the mobility landscape, by introducing a smart urban mobility hub that reimagines production while delivering a range of engaging customer experiences.

SEED: The origins that Hyundai Motor Company and Singapore share

Singapore, South Korea, and Hyundai Motor Group all share a common historical thread – the seed for progress. Guided by a resolute vision and ambition, Singapore charted a remarkable course of development following its independence in 1965.

In 1967 – in an era when Korea was far from its current state of abundance – Hyundai Motor Company emerged as a humble assembly plant in Ulsan, Korea. In these two resource-scarce Asian nations, it was the shared aspiration for a brighter future that sowed the seeds of boundless potential and growth.

Today, we are dedicated to accelerating our mobility solutions in Singapore, a place synonymous with the DNA of progress.

ROOT: Making a permanent home in Singapore

We’re proud to say that the pursuit of progress is ingrained within our DNA, and HMGICS is the embodiment of this commitment to innovation. It's not just about revolutionizing our products; it's about transforming the very essence of how we craft them.

A technology hub for smart manufacturing

Gone are the conventional factory scenes where conveyor belts replicate identical products. Within our innovation hub, we've introduced a cell-based flexible production system that empowers our engineers to resonate with the diverse needs of our segmented customer base.

Better yet, we've harmonized the human experience with state-of-the-art robotics, aided by automated mobile robots to support the logistics such as AGVs and AMRs as well as SPOT, a four-legged walking robot, to support the inspection process.

Made up of nearly 200 robots, AI, and advanced vision technology, HMGICS achieved a great deal of automation in terms of both logistics and assembly. Also, it is the digital system that ensures an ever more precise and safer factory thanks to the digital twin system. It connects the physical and the digital worlds to maintain the optimal conditions for the factory.

Here at Hyundai Motor Group, we've woven the pursuit of progress right into our core DNA, and it's what makes HMGICS more than just a smart manufacturing hub. We've transformed it into an immersive customer experience space that welcomes all.

Step inside the lobby and you'll find a pioneering Smart Farm – the first of its kind in the world where visitors can engage in fully automated and robotics-driven farming.

HMGICS has harnessed the power of robotics and automation technologies to creatively produce local food in support of Singapore, where most foods are imported.

On the rooftop of our building, you'll discover the Skytrack Lounge, which is a 620-meter track set at an angle perfect for the final quality check of our IONIQ vehicles before they reach their proud owners. But it's not just for our internal use – visitors keen on dynamic IONIQ test drives can also partake in this exhilarating experience.

To truly grasp how smart manufacturing operates here at HMGICS, we've developed a factory virtual reality tour program.
With VR goggles, visitors embark on an immersive journey, crafting their very own IONIQ vehicle. It's just one of the ways we're making our mobility solutions tangible – and accessible to all.
