HMC employees are transforming themselves into “Blue Santas” and visiting their neighbors in local communities to celebrate the holiday season. The 123 employee-organized volunteering associations at HMC announced on December 21 that they will volunteer at 140 organizations across Korea, including orphanages, free lunch stands, and children’s centers, bringing them gifts and entertainment. The Blue Santa campaign will take place in six other countries as well, in the communities around the local HMC of?ces. The campaign in Korea will begin with HMC employees visiting the Little Neighborhood School in Suyu-dong, Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, taking the students there on a tour around the National Seoul Science Center and having lunch with them. The HMC employees will visit other af?liated social organizations until the end of this year, delivering donations and gifts and helping them decorate Christmas trees, make winter kimchi and get geared up for the cold season. A spokesperson for the company said: “We hope the Santa Clauses dressed in blue, which is our company’s signature color, will bring hope to the often neglected and overlooked neighbors of our communities. We plan to expand the scale of the overseas Blue Santa campaigns even further by next year.” HMC held the Blue Santa campaign in Korea until last year around the Christmas season.
