SEOUL, May 27, 2022 – Hyundai Motor’s three high-performance N brand models will race at the 50th 2022 ADAC 24h Nürburgring (24h Nürburgring) race from May 28-29, in Nürburg, Germany.
Racing in the 24h Nürburgring for the seventh year in a row, Hyundai Motor is running Elantra N TCR, i30 N TCR and i30 Fastback N cup race car (VT2 class) to further demonstrate the superb performance and durability of its N brand models.
Hyundai Motor has completed every 24h Nürburgring race since 2016 with every participating model. The company is targeting victories again this year following Elantra N TCR and i30 N TCR finishing first and second in TCR class at the 2021 24h Nürburgring.
Hyundai Motor also announced that it will run a ‘Dare to Dream’ campaign for fans who are interested in motorsports and want to become an actual racer. Starting in the second half of this year, Hyundai Driving Experience will carry out a driver development program to train the participants and nominate some of them as potential N racers for upcoming competitions. The Hyundai Driving Experience instructor will participate in the VT2 class race as a driver this year.
“Motorsports is an ideal field for testing technology in the harshest conditions, and the technology proved at Nürburgring will be applied to mass-production cars,” said Till Wartenberg, Head of N brand management and Motorsports sub-division. “We expect that, through this year’s ‘Dare to Dream’ campaign, many global customers will become real racers through the Hyundai Driving Experience program and participate in a future 24h Nürburgring race.”
24h Nürburgring is the race where the vehicle with the longest driving range within 24 hours wins. The Nürburgring track, nicknamed ‘The Green Hell,’ is notorious for its harsh driving conditions, such as narrow road width, severe variances in elevation and invisible sharp curves throughout the 25-km circuit. As a result, the completion rate of the 24h Nürburgring is around 70 percent and only 99 cars out of 121 cars succeeded in completing the race in 2021.
Same as last year, Hyundai Motor will livestream the entire race through the Hyundai Driving Experience website (eu.drivingexperience.hyundai.com) from 15:45 p.m. (CET) on May 28. This will allow motorsports fans around the world to easily experience the 24-hour race. This year, the race will be broadcast with commentators in three different languages, including English, German and Korean, providing real-time observations and insights about the event for the benefit of the audience.
