From April 7 to 10, Hyundai officially announced the launch of the IONIQ brand in China during the IONIQ Brand Launch Event held at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing.
VENUS Concept and EARTH Concept were unveiled for the first time, marking the beginning of a new universe.

The newly launched IONIQ brand in China evolves beyond a traditional product lineup into a broader mobility ecosystem. As part of this strategy, IONIQ introduces a new naming convention for the Chinese market. Inspired by the planetary system revolving around the sun, the IONIQ lineup takes its names from the planets, symbolizing a universe centered on the customer. Through this distinct approach, Hyundai aims to complete a fully customized EV experience.

VENUS Concept & EARTH Concept
The VENUS Concept and EARTH Concept mark the first tangible expression of Hyundai’s renewed presence in China, offering a glimpse into IONIQ’s future direction. Guided by the ethos “Lead, don’t follow,” both concepts deliver a “Best in First Impression” presence with their unique silhouette.
Inspired by the radiant beauty of its namesake planet, the VENUS Concept reimagines the modern sedan as a bold yet timeless icon. Finished in Radiant Gold, its sleek one‑curve profile, lightweight roof structure, and transparent spoiler convey refined confidence. Also, the driver‑focused interior combines layered mood lighting, contrasting premium materials, and the playful ‘Lumi’ character to create an immersive experience.
By contrast, the EARTH Concept embodies vitality and balance as a powerful SUV designed for everyday life. Its Aurora Shield exterior blends sharp edges with sculpted volumes and robust detailing, while inside, a calm “small Earth” takes shape, giving comfortable and breathable space. Innovative air‑hug seats, nature‑inspired lighting, subtle shy‑tech features, and hidden references to Beijing are details that bring new discoveries to our everyday journey.
A New Chapter Begins with IONIQ
Approximately 400 Chinese media and influencers arrived at Hyundai Motorstudio Beijing for the IONIQ Brand Launch Event and the first thing that grabbed their attention was a striking golden object positioned at the center of the courtyard. Known as “The Origin,” this object represents the design direction behind the latest concept cars - an ambition to create something entirely new, unlike anything before.
Defined by a powerful silhouette and a single, confident curve, it embodies what we call “Best in First Impression.” This message extended beyond the structure itself, flowing into the Golden Gate at the entrance and the large‑scale mural across the building façade, enveloping the entire space in a unified expression. On the second floor, two concept cars drew the eye, showcased like planets within a space that embodied IONIQ’s new universe.
At the event, a series of presentations on IONIQ’s brand, business, technology and design clearly articulated Hyundai’s strategy and commitment to the Chinese market. In particular, the presentations emphasized IONIQ’s human‑centered philosophy grounded in uncompromising safety and quality proven on a global scale, and technologies shaped by a deep understanding of Chinese customers’ lives.
Starting with the two concept cars unveiled today, we will continue to present products that reflect deep insight into Chinese customers and our genuine commitment to this market.

This event was the spark; Beijing International Automotive Exhibition will be the ignition.
