Hyundai CRATER Concept Conquers New Terrain in The Crew™ Motorfest

Hyundai makes its virtual debut in Ubisoft’s blockbuster open-world racing franchise with the CRATER Concept, an all-electric off-road vehicle built for exploration, rugged performance, and community-driven creativity.

Hyundai CRATER Concept Enters the Virtual Wild

From winding coastal highways to volcanic ridges, the open roads of the Hawaiian Islands have long served as a playground for automotive enthusiasts in Ubisoft’s acclaimed AAA racer, The Crew™ Motorfest. Now, players around the world can experience a new kind of adventure.

With the launch of Season 11, Hyundai Motor Company officially joins the action, becoming the first Korean automotive brand featured in the game. At the heart of its debut is the CRATER Concept, an all-electric off-road vehicle designed to take on varied, demanding landscapes while previewing the future of Hyundai’s rugged XRT design line.

Built for Exploration: The CRATER Concept and XRT Design

Conceived and designed at the Hyundai Design North America studio in Irvine, California, the CRATER Concept is a compact off-road SUV vehicle that visually expresses capability and toughness. Inspired by extreme environments, the vehicle has been crafted with the spirit of XRT, including design elements that showcase protection, connection, and functionality.

The CRATER Concept makes a bold visual statement with the exterior design theme of “The Impact of Adventure.” Beneath its distinctive “Art of Steel” exterior design language transforms the strength and flexibility of steel into sculptural beauty, an all-electric powertrain delivers instantaneous torque to support performance in demanding off-road conditions. Its commanding stance complemented by its steep approach and departure angles which support serious off-road exploration, integrated protective cladding, and all-terrain wheel setup, reflects the rugged DNA of Hyundai’s expanding XRT trims.

By bringing the CRATER Concept to The Crew™ Motorfest, Hyundai gives players around the world an early, hands-on look at how electric mobility and off-road capability come together in the next generation of XRT trims.

Take on the Terrain: Off-Road Gameplay with CRATER Concept

Off-roading is all about adapting to the unexpected. To bring that experience into the game, Hyundai and The Crew™ Motorfest worked together to integrate gameplay features inspired by real-world off-road dynamics:

In-Game Winch: Players can deploy the new Winch feature to pull themselves out of tricky situations and clear heavy obstacles from the trail ahead.

Off-Road Customization: From visual modifications to suspension and performance tuning, players can tailor their CRATER Concept to their driving style before showcasing their creations in the community-focused Custom Show.

TrackForge Integration: The game's user-generated course builder lets players create custom off-road circuits designed to put the CRATER Concept’s clearance, climbing ability and off-road performance to the test. With the new Pure Dirt kit, players can use dedicated environments and track-building elements to create more immersive dirt-focused challenges.

Explore, Create, Challenge: The CRATER Concept Experience

The arrival of the CRATER Concept sets the stage for a new player-driven experience with the introduction of Kauai, an entirely new island to explore in Season 11. Wilder and less populated than the other islands, Kauai offers a striking new landscape of dense swamps, rugged terrain and the vast Red Canyon.

The update also brings more than 40 animal species to the world of The Crew™ Motorfest, giving players new wildlife to discover and photograph across all its islands.

Through the TrackForge editor, players can create their own off-road circuits, take on steep elevations, and forge new paths. From mastering technical rock crawls to testing high-speed all-electric hill climbs, the combination of instantaneous torque and the in-game Winch offers a fresh driving dynamic as players take on Kauai’s challenging landscapes.

Stay tuned: Dedicated community challenges, custom track selections, and special creator collaborations will be added throughout October as the season progresses.
