Industry Leader of the Year in the 2023 Automotive News All-Stars Awards
For 40 years, the Automotive News has recognized leaders making a significant impact on their companies and the industry at large. This year, our Executive Chair Euisun Chung won the title of Industry Leader for his exceptional contribution in new mobility with his futuristic vision that includes electric vehicles and hydrogen power.

This is not the first time that Euisun Chung has been awarded for his work with Hyundai Motor Group. He has also received several other industry honors. In 2023, he received the Commander of the Order of the British Empire and was named MotorTrend’s ‘Person of the Year.’ In 2022, he was named ‘Visionary of the Year’ at Newsweek’s World’s Greatest Auto Disruptors Awards, and in 2021, he was presented with the highly respected Issigonis Trophy by Autocar in the UK.

Next Big Steps in the EV Era and a Glimpse into Hyundai Motor Company's Future
As ‘Industry Leader of the Year’, Euisun Chung has been recognized for bringing in a whole new era of EVs. This endeavor has seen our IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 6 awarded “World Car of the Year” in 2022 and 2023 respectively, along with a host of other awards for safety and design.
This drive into EVs can also be seen in two of our latest projects. Firstly, we held an inauguration ceremony for the Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center in Singapore (HMGICS) an innovative new hub that houses a Smart Farm and harmonizes the human experience with state-of-the-art robotics including SPOT. Secondly, we hosted a ground-breaking ceremony for our next EV era, which is evolving into the EV-dedicated Plant in Ulsan. Both of these projects set the course for our future, a future in which we will continue to blaze new paths and bring further “Progress for Humanity”.
Euisun Chung also has a driving role in our journey towards a hydrogen society. Under this vision, Hyundai Motor Group is committed to establishing a sustainable supply chain, applying green steel and eco-friendly parts, converting our own business sites to renewable energy, and pioneering the production, storage, and use of hydrogen energy worldwide. We are also forging ahead with our own hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicles.
Lastly, his ambition in advancing technology and sustainability clearly depicts Hyundai Motor Company’s vision for future mobility.
Investing in and leader robotics technology, Advanced Air Mobility (AAM), and MoT (Mobility of Things), he is putting the ‘new’ into new mobility with global leadership.
The award signals differentiated strategies and business of Eusiun Chung, and eventually Hyundai Motor Company will blossom into a ‘Game Changer’ of the new generation.
