Hyundai Motor Reports June 2019 Global Sales
SEOUL, July 1, 2019 – Hyundai Motor Company announced today global sales results for June 2019, during which a total of 378,714 units were sold.
Domestic sales recorded a 2.5 percent year-on-year increase, reaching 60,987 units led by robust sedan sales. The Sonata defended its title as the best-selling vehicle in the country, which it regained in June, with 9,822 units. Grandeur (Azera) sales also remained strong with 6,652 units, followed by Avante’s (Elantra) 5,654 units, both contributing to the increase.
Hyundai’s RV lineup posted a total of 18,407 units sold in Korea, led by the popular Santa Fe and Palisade models. The NEXO fuel cell SUV recorded a noteworthy sevenfold increase in sales year on year to 478 units.
Sales decreased by 10.1 percent compared with June 2018, totaling 317,727 units sold, as demand in China as well as emerging markets such as Turkey weakened.
Hyundai expects to build new sales momentum with Venue, the newest addition to its SUV lineup, as well as the Palisade which just recently began sales in the U.S. The company will swiftly respond to market trends by introducing models tailored to meet customers’ demands, while staying committed to maintaining quality leadership. For two years in a row, the company ranked as the second-highest non-premium brand in J.D. Power’s 2019 U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS).
