All-New Sonata sets a new sales record

  • New Sonata’s accumulated sales contracts reach 100,000 units since its launch last September, setting a new record
  • Appealing design and enhanced brand image attract more customers in their 30s and 40s
  • Popularity expected to continue with the launch of 2.4 liter GDI engine

(Seoul, Korea) The number of contracts signed for the all-new Sonata, launched in Korea on September 17 last year, has broken the 100,000 mark as of January 10, 2010. The figure equates to more than 1,000 contracts being signed each working day since its debut in the South Korean market and sets a new record in Korea’s vehicle sales.

Considering that Hyundai sells a monthly average of 10,000 Sonatas, the number of contracts signed so far for the all-new Sonata means that sales for 10 months have been secured.

The success of Hyundai's sixth-generation Sonata among the younger generation, as well as its traditional buyers in their 40s, can be attributed to its appealing `fluidic sculpture' design and high quality.

The popularity of the new Sonata is expected to continue with the domestic launch of the 2.4-liter Theta GDi engine on January 18.
