Hyundai Motor Reports January 2022 Global Sales

January 2022 global sales totaled 282,204 units, a decrease of 12.1% Y/Y
Sales outside of Korea were down 9.8% to 235,999 units
Sales in Korea were down 22.3% to 46,205 units
Positive sales performance in Europe and Russia, North and South America, and the Asia Pacific regions
Hyundai aims to sell 4.32 million units around the globe in 2022 with demand driven by new luxury and EV models

SEOUL, February 3, 2022 – Hyundai Motor Company today announced its January 2022 global sales of 282,204 units, a 12.1 percent decrease from a year earlier.

In markets outside of Korea, Hyundai Motor sold 235,999 units, a 9.8 percent decrease from a year earlier. However, Europe, Russia and CIS regions showed strong performance. Each region was up 25.7 percent and 10.5 percent to 40,855 units and 14,353 units.

Retail sales in North and South America and Asia Pacific regions were also positive, although global supply chain issues weighed on inventory levels. The Americas’ retail sales increased 11.5 percent to 84,979 units, and Asia Pacific grew 6.7 percent to 17,522 units from a year earlier.

Hyundai Motor sales in Korea decreased 22.3 percent year over year to 46,205 units, including 10,580 units from the Genesis luxury brand.

Hyundai Motor will minimize the impact of business uncertainties, such as the global chip shortage, by optimizing production, diversifying business strategies tailored for each region, and launching new battery electric models, including Electrified GV70 and IONIQ 6 this year.

For all of 2022, Hyundai Motor aims to sell over 4.3 million units around the globe, growing 11 percent from sales in 2021.
