HMC (headed by Chung Mong-goo) recently announced that, working with the Children’s Foundation, it will hold the 2011 Youth Memoirs on Hope Competition, seeking to draw wide participation from middle-school and high-school students in Korea. The competition’s main objective is to collect inspiring, real-life stories from teenagers and spread the messages of hope around. Any student studying at a middle- or high-school in Korea can participate, by writing two single-spaced pages of their stories of how they have overcome certain difficulties or how they are working to achieve their dreams. Submit the essay any time between Tuesday, June 7, and Friday, June 31, online to iehter www.hyundai.com, www.childfund. or.kr, or radio.sbs.co.kr/yososexy (the of?cial website for Kim Hee-cheol’s Young Street on SBS FM). HMC will evaluate the essays along with the Children’s Fund, on such criteria as originality, future-orientedness, and risk-taking spirit. Ten works will be awarded in the end, and the award winners will be given an opportunity to travel to Japan next January along with a guide. Two of the award-sinning essays will be also introduced on Kim Hee-cheol’s Young Street on SBS FM, a popular radio program for youth.
