Hyundai Azera receives “Best Car of the Year 2011” Award from Sport Auto Magazine
Jeddah - The all new Hyundai Azera received "Best Car of the Year 2011" award in large-sized sedan cars category from Sport Auto magazine, the leading motor magazine in the Arab World. In a special ceremony held for this purpose, Mr. B.T. Shin, Head of Middle East Regional Headquarter, accepted the award from
Mr. Gerard Saunal, the Publisher and editor-in-Chief of Sport Auto magazine.
The award ceremony was also attended by Mr. Hazm Jamjoom, the Managing Director of Mohammed Yousuf Naghi Motors – Hyundai Division, who is the official distributor of Hyundai cars in the Western Region of Saudi Arabia. Also were present a number of senior officials of the distributorship, as well as local and regional press representatives.
On this occasion, Mr. B.T. Shin, Head of Hyundai Middle East Regional Head Quarter, said:" Azera has achieved many awards and recognitions worldwide in view of its unprecedented, technology-rich features that places it on top of its category. The all-new Azera is a result of three-and-a-half years and US $420 million of research, development and testing in order to create a credible challenger in the luxury car segment with sufficient appeal in styling and significantly improved performance, ride comfort, road handling as well as with cutting-edge safety and convenience features.
He concluded his speech by thanking Sport Auto magazine and its publisher and editor-in chief Mr. Gerard Saunal for this award.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Gerard Saunal, Publisher and editor-in-Chief of Sport Auto magazine, said: "Sport Auto magazine presents "Car of the Year" award in all car categories based on certain criteria including design, performance, fuel economy, low level of emission, eco-friendliness, safety features and customers general acceptance. This year, Hyundai Azera got the highest ratings in the large-sized sedan category over many models that have been nominated to win this award and thus earned the "Best Car of the Year 2011" award.
Meanwhile, Mr. Hazm Jamjoom, Managing Director of Mohammed Yousuf Naghi Motors commented on the occasion by saying:" Getting "Best Car of the Year 2011" prestigious award from Sport Auto magazine, the most credible motor magazine in the Arab world, is no surprise to us, as the all new Azera has got many international awards and recognitions worldwide. This recognition is very important to us because it reflects a professional point of view in automotive industry, as well as, it stresses the right choice for consumers in Saudi Arabia, where this model has achieved record sales not only due to its excellence in design and features but also because of its competitive price”.
The new Azera has an aggressive stylish exterior and a luxurious interior which is very spacious. Its overall length is 4,910mm, width 1860mm and height 1470mm, and is built on a wheelbase of 2,845mm which guarantees comfortable seating for up to five adults.
The Azera is equipped with a lot of leading and advanced safety systems in addition to a 4-cylinder 2.4L engine and a 6-cylender 3.0 L engine that are built on all-aluminum body.
