HYUNDAI ELANTRA WINS POLK AUTOMOTIVE LOYALTY AWARD

Elantra Takes Top Honors in Compact Car Category

COSTA MESA, Calif., Jan. 11, 2012 – The all-new Hyundai Elantra was named the winner in the Compact Car category at the 16th annual Polk Automotive Loyalty Awards, presented last night at the Automotive News World Congress in Detroit.

“The compact car segment has become increasingly popular to those consumers seeking value, fuel economy and style,” noted Brad Smith, director of the Loyalty Management Practice at Polk. “Elantra’s performance in this category is evidence of Hyundai’s growth and importance in the U.S. market.”

Polk’s Automotive Loyalty Awards are presented to OEMs that demonstrate a manufacturer’s ability to retain owners over repeat buying cycles. Loyalty is determined when a household that owns a new vehicle returns to market and purchases or leases another new vehicle of the same model or make. Polk tracks owner loyalty throughout the year and regularly works with customers to effectively manage owner loyalty through in-depth analysis of automotive shopping behaviors, related market influencers and development of retention strategies.

“Hyundai owners truly love their cars, so it’s no surprise that Elantra is being recognized in Polk’s loyalty awards this year,” said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. “With 40 MPG highway, class-above interior roominess, and a modern design, the Elantra offers compact sedan shoppers many reasons to remain loyal to our vehicles and the Hyundai brand.”

The 2011 Elantra sets the bar in the compact sedan category, offering outstanding fuel economy and loads of comfort and convenience features at a low starting price of $14,830. Powered by an all-new 1.8-liter “Nu” engine, the fifth-generation Elantra boasts best-in-class standard fuel economy of 40 mpg highway. Elantra also continues to lead the industry in standard advanced safety technologies including a new Vehicle Stability Management (VSM) system to optimally manage Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Even with game-changing performance and safety features, the Elantra does not scrimp on design. It offers a “class-above” mid-size car interior volume and mirrors the fluidic sculpture design of its award-winning sibling, the all-new Sonata.
