Hyundai keeps scoring goals
For the past six years, Hyundai Motor Company Australia has been a proud supporter of football in Australia. As naming rights sponsor of the Hyundai A-League, Hyundai is committed to supporting local community clubs where young football talent is first recognised and nurtured.
The Hyundai ‘Goals for Grassroots’ programme offers help where it is needed most. The innovative campaign enables community clubs across Australia to apply for supplementary funding which can help them purchase vital equipment, provide training courses for coaching staff, or assist with subsidising club fees for less fortunate players.
The ‘Goals for Grassroots’ programme has been playing its part in assisting the growth of football in Australia, and has donated in excess of $157,000 to worthy grassroots clubs around Australia over the last three years and $46,000 so far in 2010.
During each round of the Hyundai A-League season, Goals for Grassroots offers one local team the chance to earn much needed additional club funding. For each round, a home match is selected and the local grassroots team will receive an initial $1000 donation guranteed. This can be boosted (up to a maximum $5000 in a single match), with an additional $1000 donated by Hyundai for each goal the home team scores in that match.
“Hyundai and I get enormous pleasure seeing the young wannabe football stars down at the match cheering on their local teams,” said Jason Culina, Hyundai Ambassador and Qantas Socceroo. “The future and the heart of the game lies here with the kids, and we are delighted to be able to play a part in encouraging and nurturing the community teams.”
To apply for selection and have the chance to win your club much needed additional funding, local football clubs can complete an application on-line at www.ilovefootball.com.au and submit a proposal on why their club should receive support. You can add photos and videos to help increase your chance of being the selected.
*To be eligible to enter, local clubs must belong to an association affiliated to the Football Federation Australia.
