November 20, 2013 – Hyundai Motor Company, the world’s fastest-growing automaker by brand, launches Mistra (Mingtu in Chinese) at Canton tower in the city of Guangzhou, Guandong, China. This new China-exclusive, mid-sized family sedan, will strengthen Hyundai’s efforts to establish itself as a leading brand in the world’s largest auto market.
The Mistra -- positioned in the mid-sized segment, which grew impressively almost 30% year-on-year -- fully reflected Chinese customers’ needs and preferences during the development process.
Hyundai Motor’s Mistra targets middle class consumers in their early to mid-30s, a new and growing consumer segment.
“Mistra is expected to enhance Hyundai’s brand image in China’s explosively growing mid-sized segment with smart and attractive design and product competiveness,” Sung Kee Choi, President of Beijing Hyundai Motor Co., a 50-50 joint venture between Hyundai Motor and Beijing
Automotive Industry Holding Co., said during a speech. “Since it was developed exclusively for consumers in China, Mistra will make a positive impact in the market with its differentiated value and outstanding marketability.”
Featuring adaptive TFT-LCD, daytime running lights, power driver seat, cooled driver seat, heated rear seats, rear air ventilation, panorama sunroof and BlueLink telematics system, Mistra offers high-tech features typically seen on luxury sedans.
Safety features, such as side and curtain airbags, VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) and TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System), are also included.
With the best-in-class powertrain, 1.8/2.0 liter engine and 6-speed transmission, Mistra delivers outstanding power and fuel efficiency. It is also the largest vehicle in its class with an overall length of 4,710mm, overall width of 1,820mm, overall height of 1,470 mm, and wheelbase of 2,770mm. Mistra provides the total package of performance, efficiency and Modern Premium design.
