SEOUL, May 2, 2022 – Hyundai Motor Company today announced its April 2022 global sales of 308,788 units, an 11.6 percent decrease from a year earlier.

In markets outside of Korea, Hyundai Motor sold a total of 249,373 units, a 10.6 percent year-on-year decrease. Despite the geopolitical issues and lockdown of several cities in China due to the ongoing pandemic, the sales of some markets, including Europe, South America and the APAC region, improved.

Sales in Korea were down by 15.4 percent year-on-year to 59,415 units, including 11,290 units from the Genesis luxury brand.

Amid unfavorable external environments, including ongoing components shortages and cost fluctuations of raw materials, the solid sales of SUVs and Genesis models helped minimize the impact on the company’s business.

Hyundai Motor will endeavor to alleviate the business uncertainties by optimizing production and inventory status and diversifying business strategies tailored for each region.
