Hyundai Motor Reports December 2009 and CY2009 Results
(Seoul, Korea) Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea's largest automaker, reports its domestic
and overseas sales results for December 2009 and the 2009 calender year. For the first time
in the automaker's history, the 2009 global sales has surpassed three million units.

December 2009 Highlights
Domestic Sales
▶ Up 82.2% Y-o-Y
▶ Sales rose 9.2% to 75,709 units in December from 69,356 units a month earlier. This
can be attributed to increased demand caused by the Korean government’s tax benefits
that ended in December.
Overseas Sales
▶ Up 23.4% Y-o-Y

CY 2009 Highlights (year-on-year)
Domestic Sales
▶ Up 23.1%, helped by the launch of two new models, Tucson ix and Sonata, as well as
the Korean government's tax benefits offered from May to last month to consumers who
exchange their vehicles older than 10 years for new ones.
▶ The best-selling model in Korea was the Sonata, selling 146,326 units. Of this figure, 61,345
units were the all-new Sonata model, which was launched in September.
Overseas Sales
▶ Up 8.7%, aided by strong sales from Hyundai’s overseas plants in China, India and
the Czech Republic.
▶ Sales at overseas plants increased by 34.2%.
