  • Hyundai Motor achieves global sales of 429,080 units in May
  • Global sales show increase of 10.4% YoY
  • Solid overseas sales and increased sales of bestselling models result in strong global sales
 
June 2, 2016 – Hyundai Motor, South Korea's largest automaker, reports global sales results for May 2016.
 
 
Sales Results
(Units)

1. Commercial Vehicles (CV) include LCV, buses and trucks.
2. Hyundai Motor currently has overseas plants in Brazil, China, the Czech Republic, India, Russia, Turkey and the U.S.
3. Domestic Production relate to the vehicles produced in Korea for the overseas markets.
4. Domestic Sales is based on retail sales while Overseas Sales is based on shipments.
 
 [Highlights]

  • Global sales in May 2016 totals 429,080 units – an increase of 10.4% YoY.
  • Sales figures in Korea records increase of 10.6% and overseas markets also show increase of 10.4% YoY
  • Sonata sales in Korea this month remained robust reaching a total of 8,574 units in domestic sales, led in part by 575 units of Sonata Hybrid sales.
  • Genesis and G90 (EQ900 in Korea) maintained strong sales momentum posting total sales of 5,789 units in Korea.
 
 
 
 
Breakdown of Overseas Shipment

*‘Consignment (EU)’ includes the amount of vehicles produced by Karsan (Turkish commercial vehicles manufacturer) on consignment.

  • Strong sales of SUV models and the All-new Elantra leads Hyundai Motor’s momentum gain in the U.S. market.
  • China Plant yearly sales figure increased due to economic recovery nationwide and continued tax benefits.
  • i10, i20 and Creta sales show strong growth, despite MoM total sales decrease in India.s
  • Czech Plant shows positive shipment figures as Tucson and i30 posts high sales in the European market.
