SEOUL, June 2, 2022 – Hyundai Motor Company today announced its May 2022 global sales of 324,039 units, a 4.6 percent increase from the previous month and a 0.5 percent decrease year over year.
Sales in Korea were up by 2.1 percent year-on-year to 63,373 units, including 20,570 units and 12,234 units, driven by demand for SUV models and the Genesis luxury brand.
In markets outside of Korea, Hyundai Motor sold a total of 260,666 units, a 1.1 percent year-on-year decrease. Despite global logistic issues and the lockdown of several cities in China due to the ongoing pandemic, the sales of global markets have recovered steadily.
Amid unfavorable external environments, including ongoing components shortages and cost fluctuations of raw materials, the solid sales of SUVs and Genesis models helped minimize the impact on the company’s business.
Hyundai Motor will make an effort to alleviate business uncertainties by optimizing production and inventory status and diversifying business strategies tailored for each region.
