Hyundai Motor Reports September 2018 Global Sales Results

• Hyundai Motor’s sales for September 2018 total 384,833 units

SEOUL, Oct. 1, 2018 — Hyundai Motor Company today announced its global sales results for September 2018, recording a total of 384,833 units sold, down 6.6 percent from a year earlier.

Overseas sales dropped by 5.7 percent year-over-year, posting 332,339 units, due to reduced production exports from Korea in part due to the timing difference of the biggest national holiday, ‘Chuseok’ in Korea, which was in October last year compared to September this year.

Sales in Korea also declined by 12.1 percent compared with the previous year, resulting in 52,494 units sold. This was also largely due to the national holidays in September, despite the strong demand in both sedan and SUV products. Azera (Grandeur in Korea) continued its strong sales result while the all-new Santa Fe again became the best-selling model in Korea for the seventh consecutive month.

Hyundai Motor plans to continue its sales momentum with recently launched products such as the all-new Santa Fe, the refreshed Tucson SUV, and the refreshed Elantra (Avante in Korea). The company also expects to create a new niche in the high performance car market, unveiling the i30 Fastback N, a new model from its high-performance N brand, at the 2018 Paris Motor Show.
