Starting with the delivery of 1,800 briquettes in total to the poor and the elderly in Bongdong-eup, Wanju County, Jeonbuk on December 17, the Hyundai plant in Jeonju has distributed over 360,000 briquettes and rice, worth over 210 million won in total value, to 1,200 poor and needy households in the regions of Jeonju, Wanju, and Iksan so far. Mr. Cho, age 80 and resident of Bondong-eup who received the unexpected gifts, said: “I was quite worried how I would survive this cold winter alone, but Hyundai saved me.”
An employee of the plant who participated in delivering the briquettes said: “I will add what small power I have to helping out the poor and the needy here along with the company.”
With the inauguration of the Briquettes of Charity Volunteers Corps made up of the employees of the plant, the Jeonju plant plans to provide the goods and funds needed to help the poor teens, seniors, and social service organizations in the region along with its Blue Santas until the end of December.
