2011.10.12 15:22:09 No. 15851

The U.S. Congress has invited Hyundai as the first private-sector partner for its project to help fight cancer affecting children. The invitation effectively acknowledges the contributions Hyundai has made over the last 13 years in the United States to fight children’s cancer. The partnership has excited not only the American political community, but the society at large as well. It also represents the recognition by American lawmakers of the great and successful efforts Hyundai has made to localize itself since its arrival in the U.S. in 1986.

The Child Cancer Caucus consisting of 77 members of the U.S. House of Representatives held an annual event to help fight children’s cancer at the Congress in Washington D.C. on September 23. The CCC introduced Hope on Wheels, Hyundai’s program supporting treatments for children’s cancer, thanking the company for its contribution in the area. Brianna, a child spokesperson for Hyundai’s Hope on Wheels campaign who has successfully overcome her cancer with the company’s help, was there to give a testimony about her experience and express her gratitude for the company. Rep. Michael McCall, chairperson of the CCC, said in introducing Hope on Wheels: “We greatly value and appreciate the efforts Hyundai has made to advance treatments for children’s cancer.”

The fund raised through the Hope on Wheels campaigns include the proportions of proceeds that over 800 Hyundai dealerships across the U.S. have contributed for each sale they have made. Hyundai will continue to expand and develop Hope on Wheels as its special CSR brand in the region.
