Hyundai Grand i10 wins the &lsquoIndian Car of Year 2014' award

Dec. 19, 2013 Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL), a wholly owned subsidiary of Hyundai Motor Company, has won the coveted Indian Car of the Year 2014 (ICOTY) award for the newly launched Grand i10. The Grand i10 has created a new benchmark in terms of quality, features and technology, offering higher value proposition to Indian customers.

Hyundai Grand i10 has earned the country's highest automotive award in India's competitive and rapidly growing auto market. The ICOTY award has been instituted by the most eminent jury of senior editors from prominent automotive publications throughout the country such as Top Gear, Auto India, Motoring, Car India, Overdrive, Auto Bild, AutoX, Hindu Business Line and EVO.

Upon receiving the award, B. S. Seo, managing director & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd, said, "We are honored to win the most prestigious automotive award - The Indian Car of the Year 2014. The Grand i10 is a world-class product developed for the Indian market, and the ICOTY 2014 marks its phenomenal success. The award symbolizes Hyundai's commitment to Indian customers by offering high standards of quality, durability and reliability. Grand i10 has consolidated Hyundai's position as a trendsetter and leader in the premium compact car segment. We are humbled by the overwhelmingly positive response and appreciation the model has received from customers, media and jurors. We thank our customers for making Hyundai Grand i10 a grand success."

Congratulating the winning car, Editor of BBC TopGear India and Chairman of the jury of the Indian COTY 2014 Girish Karkera said, "Nowadays manufacturers are getting so competitive with making cars that it gets very difficult to choose one car over the other. The differences are sometimes almost negligible and with our kind of fair voting system the verdict can go either way. Indian Car of the Year title is a respected one and I am happy to see a car as good as the Grand i10 now wearing the crown. In our collective votes it has come out on top as a wholesome product with that added flair that has tilted the verdict in its favor."

Launched in September this year, the Grand i10 with its premium features and stylish design marked Hyundai's entry into the compact high entry segment in India. With over 10 billion rupees invested, the Grand i10 received an overwhelming response and entered the chart of top 5 selling car brands in India within the second month of its launch. Over 35,000 units have already been delivered to satisfied customers across India in just 90 days since its national launch in September 2013.

The Grand i10 showcases a modern, sporty, trendy and progressive styling. It has been designed at Hyundai's European design center in Germany using design cues from Hyundai's globally acclaimed &lsquoFluidic Sculpture' design philosophy. The Grand i10 has been developed for the Indian market to cater to the needs of the evolved compact buyers, who value style, space, economy and technological features. Hyundai Motor India Ltd. and Hyundai Motor Company Namyang R&ampD Engineers have worked closely from the conceptual stage to the final product development.
