HMC has been donating over 100 million won each year since 2009 for the needy and the underprivileged in Yongsan-gu through the Hyochang General Social Service Center. A spokesperson for the company said that the company delivered the cash donation of 170 million won in total to the Hyochang Center this year as the HMC CSR Subsidy for the Hope Engine Campaign.
The day’s event was attended by Kim Seonggon, Director of the Hyochang Center; Jeong Juyeong, Standing Director of the Service Department at HMC; and Lee Seong-ha, Chairperson of the HMC Repair Committee. Of the 170 million won it received, the Hyochang Center will use the 90 million won to support a mentoring program for teenagers of needy households. The Center will also provide up to 1.2 million won over the course of the next year for each of the 75 needy elementary-school students it has picked. Another 40 million won will be spent on supporting a mentoring program for 70 children in the district, and other recreational and support programs for the locals. 30 million won will be given to the 100 poor seniors living in the districts to help with their heating expenses. Director Kim of the Hyochang Center said: “We would like to convey our deep gratitude to the Service Department at HMC for continuing to help us and needy residents in our district this year as well.”
