On February 8, President Park Han-woo of Hyundai Motor India signed an official agreement with President Haroon Largat of the International Cricket Council (ICC), promising the provision of automobiles for the Cricket World Cup to be held in India as well as sponsorship of the event from 2011 through 2015.
Baesd on this sponsorship agreement, HMC will assist and support the protocols and provided required vehicles at the international events hosted by the ICC, such as the Cricket World Cup, the Champion’s Trophy and the World T20, while engaging in a variety of related marketing activities.
Cricket is a popular sport of national stature in such British Commonwealth countries as India, Australia, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and so forth. The Cricket World Cup is the fourth-largest sporting event in the world, after the FIFA Soccer World Cup, the Olympic Games, and the Rugby World Cup. Broadcast in over 110 countries every time it is held, the Cricket World Cup is watched by over two billion people around the world. The 2011 World Cup will be attended by delegations from 14 countries, competing in 41 matches in total.
