Hyundai Motor Provides fleet of &lsquoGenesis' For International Cricket Council

Dubai, 11 November 2013 – Hyundai Motor Company, the world's fastest-growing automaker by brand, today handed over the keys for 18 of its premium Hyundai Genesis models to the International Cricket Council (ICC). These vehicles will be used for the World Twenty20 Qualifiers in the UAE, which will take place between the 15th and 30th of November.

With stylish design, high-tech features and refined levels of comfort, the Genesis fleet will provide a comfortable way for ICC officials to travel between the three emirates where the event will take place – Abu Dhabi, Dubai and Sharjah.

The official handover ceremony, held at the ICC Global Cricket Academy in Dubai Sports City, saw representatives from Hyundai and the ICC in attendance. Accepting the vehicle keys, David Richardson, ICC Chief Executive, said: "Hyundai Motor is a valued ICC sponsor, and its involvement in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier UAE 2013 reflects the continuing strength of our relationship since it came on board in 2011. Hyundai's vehicles will provide officials with stylish and quality transportation for the event."

Tom Lee, Head of Hyundai Africa and Middle East Headquarters, said: "Hyundai Motor has always been a strong advocate of sports, with the ICC being one of our main partners. We want to provide the best of our range to the ICC to ensure they're comfortable and able to run a successful event."

The ICC, which is based in Dubai, is the global governing body for international cricket. It encompasses men's, women's and youth participation and competition, and has 106 member countries across five continents. 16 teams from across the globe will be participating in the ICC Twenty20 Qualifiers 2013 this month. The teams which finish in the top six will win a place at the ICC World Twenty20 Bangladesh 2014.

Hyundai Motor Company signed a five-year deal with the ICC in 2011 to become the organization's first official car sponsor. The agreement - which also covers the ICC World Twenty20, ICC Champions Trophy and ICC Cricket World Cup - is part of Hyundai's efforts to expand its global sports marketing activities and build brand awareness worldwide. Hyundai also has a high profile partnership with FIFA/UEFA and is involved in a variety of other sports, including golf and ski jumping. As of 2014, the brand will also start competing in the World Rally Championship.
