• March sales total 389,160 units, down 2.2 percent Y/y
SEOUL, April 1, 2019 – Hyundai Motor Company announced today global sales results for March 2019, during which a total of 389,160 units were sold.
Korea Sales
Domestic sales recorded a 3.7 percent year-over-year increase in March, reaching 70,111 units. Hyundai’s popular sedans -- Grandeur (called Azera overseas) and Avante (Elantra overseas) -- led the strong growth.
Overseas Sales
Sales in overseas markets decreased by 3.4 percent compared to March 2018, with 319,049 units sold, as the consumer demand slowed in China and Latin America. Other emerging markets, such as Russia and the Asia-Pacific region, showed healthy growths in sales.
Hyundai Motor plans to build new momentum with the rollout of Palisade, a new flagship SUV scheduled to be launched in the U.S. in the latter half of this year, as well as of other vehicles tailored to meet customers’ demands. The company will also swiftly respond to market trends and customer needs by establishing a system stressing the role of the regional headquarters with greater autonomy.
