February 26, 2016 – Hyundai Motor has won three major categories in this year’s prestigious Australia’s Best Cars Awards.

Hyundai Motor’s Accent is Australia’s Best Light Car, i30 is Australia’s Best Small Car under $35,000 and the ground-breaking and luxurious Genesis is Australia’s Best Large Car under $70,000.

Hyundai Motor’s SUV models also featured prominently in this year’s Australia’s Best Cars Awards. All-new Tucson and Santa Fe were Top 3 contenders in the two biggest SUV categories (under $50k and $50k-$65k classes, respectively).

Hyundai Motor’s award-winning models and contenders were applauded for their impressive achievements measured by the Australia’s Best Cars Awards three major criteria: value for money, design and function, and on-the-road performance.

Important criteria sub-categories in which Hyundai Motor’s models scored highly included: warranty, cost of depreciation, running and repair costs, fuel consumption, insurance costs, standard features, safety ratings, build and finish quality, together with ride, handling, braking, smoothness and quietness.

“We’re extremely proud that our cars have again starred in Australia’s largest new-car assessment and awards program,” said Charlie Kim, Hyundai Motor Company Australia Chief Executive Officer.

“Australia’s Best Cars Awards are important to us – and especially important to our customers – because they embrace real-world car ownership values. I believe Hyundai Motor’s proud record in these important awards – including our strong results in this year’s Australia’s Best Cars Awards – sends a clear message to car buyers about the impeccable real-world credentials of our cars,” added Kim.

Australia’s largest new-car assessment and awards program, Australia’s Best Cars Awards determines winners in 15 classes after rigorous testing by judges representing Australia’s 7.4 million auto club members.

During 2015, judges from Australia’s seven state and territory-based motoring organisations evaluated more than 180 models available nationwide, including the year’s new-car releases.

This year’s recognition of Accent, i30 and Genesis bring Hyundai Motor’s number of wins in the Australia’s Best Cars Awards’ 17 year history to an impressive 21. This year’s win by i30 makes the ever-evolving model’s Australia’s Best Cars awards tally to six.

Hyundai Motor’s i30 also is a consistent Australian market Top-3 seller and was Australia’s best-selling vehicle overall in June and September last year.
