Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell Receives Prestigious
‘Green Steering Wheel 2013 Award’ in Turkey

- Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell is awarded prestigious ‘Green Steering Wheel’ accolade by Auto Show magazine
- Judges praised Hyundai Motor for being the world’s first automaker to put  the hydrogen-powered ix35 Fuel Cell vehicle into mass production

December 2, 2013 – Hyundai Motor has received the prestigious ‘Green Steering Wheel 2013’ award for its ix35 Fuel Cell (Tuscon Fuel Cell in some markets) vehicle from Auto Show magazine, world-famous AUTO BILD’s Turkish edition.

Judges chose the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell because of its advanced technology and capabilities, but also for what this vehicle represents for the future. Hyundai Motor is the world’s first car manufacturer to assembly-line produce zero-emission fuel cell vehicles, bringing the reality of hydrogen-powered vehicles closer for consumers.

Önder Göker, Managing Director of Hyundai Assan Turkey said, “This award shows Hyundai’s commitment to sustainability and alternative fuel technology. The ix35 Fuel Cell offers the same practicality, performance, safety levels and driving experience as an ix35 driven by an internal combustion engine, but with zero tailpipe emissions. I’m delighted that Auto Show’s readers and professionals recognize the fantastic benefits this vehicle offers.  Hyundai Motor started the production of the ix35 Fuel Cell at the beginning of this year. By 2015, it will be available to more people with plans to increase production inline with consumer demand.”

The first ‘The Green Steering Wheel’ award is given to new environmental innovations and is a special category of ‘The Golden Steering Wheel’ - Europe’s leading car award. Presented by Germany’s largest Sunday newspaper BILD am SONNTAG and the world’s largest car magazine AUTO BILD, each year, 73 million readers and a highly qualified jury (consisting of race drivers, technicians, motor journalists and designers) test and vote. In the process, the members of the five jury groups assess varying criteria based on their automobile know-how.

AUTO BILD’s Turkish edition Auto Show also chooses winners of each category, with the Hyundai ix35 Fuel Cell this year receiving the highest number of votes from both the readers and the jury.
