VELOSTER NAMED ONE OF ABOUT.COM’S BEST NEW CARS FOR 2012
COSTA MESA, Calif., Jan. 18, 2012 – The
2012 Hyundai Veloster earned a spot on About.com Cars’ annual Best New Cars list. This marks the fourth year in a row that Hyundai has earned a place on the esteemed list as the Sonata, Elantra, Genesis Coupe and Genesis sedan were recognized in 2011, 2010 and 2009, respectively.
“Few automakers have the guts to bring something truly different to our relatively conservative market, and yet the Veloster bravely flies in the face of convention, from its unusual door layout (one door on the driver's side, two on the passenger's side) to its uniquely styled interior,” said Aaron Gold, About.com's Guide to Cars. “Hyundai considers the Veloster to be a ‘halo car,’ and yet they've priced it in the $18,000-$23,000 bracket.”
The cutting-edge 2012 Veloster delivers innovation to the compact coupe segment with a unique third door for easy rear-seat access, Hyundai’s Blue Link
® telematics system, Pandora
® internet radio with seven-inch touch-screen display, a new 1.6-liter direct-injected four-cylinder engine mated to Hyundai’s first EcoShift™ dual-clutch transmission, and fuel economy leadership, delivering up to 40 mpg on the highway.
“Veloster’s unique personality and incredible value has enabled it to stand-out from the crowd in its segment," said Scott Margason, director, Product Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "We are thrilled to receive this recognition from About.com, as it further communicates Hyundai's commitment to producing vehicles that provide high quality, bold design, and segment-leading fuel economy.”
Other awarded cars besides Veloster include the Ford Focus, Honda Civic and Volkswagen Jetta GLI. For more information on About.com’s Best New Cars for 2012, visit:
