2011.11.18 11:28:09 No. 15924

Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) donated $15,000.00 to the Montgomery Zoological Society for the society’s Zoobilation 2010 – Taking to the Sky event. This year’s event was held to benefit the Zoo’s all new Sky Lifts in which Hyundai is a lead sponsor. HMMA’s Yeung Tae Kim, chief financial officer, and Rick Neal, vice president administration and general counsel, were graciously thanked by Montgomery Mayor Todd Strange for Hyundai’s on-going support of the zoo. HMMA’s Community Relations committee chose to contribute to the zoo because its mission is consistent with the five pillars of Hyundai’s corporate social responsibility program: education, environment, diversity, cultural arts, and health, physical ?tness, & recreation.

The Montgomery Zoo is very important to the City of Montgomery. The zoo was established in 1920, and moved to the current location in 1971. In 1989, the zoo underwent a major expansion encompassing over 48 acres and 700 different species of animals. The zoo is comprised of administrators, animal care specialists, conservation and preservation specialists, veterinarians and animal care technicians. The department and staff all work together to maintain and accomplish the goals and the mission set forth by the Montgomery Zoo. The mission of the Montgomery Zoo is to improve the future for wildlife by exhibiting animals and plants while providing education and conservation programs which encourage respect and stewardship of the natural world and a better understanding of our place within it.

Several HMMA Team Members attended the 2010 Zoobilation for an evening of great food, fun and live entertainment.
