Singapore, September 30, 2025 – Hyundai Motor Group Innovation Center Singapore (HMGICS), Hyundai Motor Group’s first global open innovation hub, today marks one year of community engagement by unveiling new partnerships and programs aimed at reaching and empowering even more young people and communities, supporting sustainability, and developing future leaders in Singapore and across the ASEAN region.
Entering its second year of community initiatives, HMGICS is launching new partnerships with global ocean exploration organization OceanX, as well as with the Temasek Foundation. These initiatives reinforce HMGICS’s ongoing commitment to growing alongside Singapore through education, innovation, and talent development.
“HMGICS was founded with a human-centric mission: to redefine future mobility and create value that extends beyond the product,” said Dr. Hyun Sung Park, CEO of HMGICS. “By investing in young people and enabling real-world access to science, engineering, and sustainability, we aim to contribute to Singapore’s innovation economy and empower future generations across the region.
New Partnership with OceanX Connects Youth to Science and Sustainability
HMGICS and OceanX are partnering to deliver immersive education experiences that connect Singaporean youth to the future of science, technology, and sustainability. Through a shared commitment to hands-on learning and real-world impact, the collaboration bridges ocean exploration, robotics, and sustainable mobility.
The partnership launches with a joint learning day on September 25, 2025, where students from local secondary schools will visit the OceanXplorer, one of the world’s most advanced marine research and media vessels, to explore ocean technologies and robotics in action. The experience continues at HMGICS with workshops focused on future mobility and engineering for a sustainable planet.
In 2026, OceanX will join the HMGICS Annual Hackathon as a challenge partner, contributing a robotics-based brief, mentorship, and participation on the judging panel. Together, HMGICS and OceanX aim to spark curiosity, encourage systems thinking, and equip the next generation to lead with science and creativity in solving global challenges.
Empowering youths through collaboration with Temasek Foundation
HMGICS has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Temasek Foundation (TF) on 26 September 2025, marking the start of a longer-term partnership to strengthen youth development. The first initiative under this collaboration will be support for the 2025 edition of the Temasek Foundation Specialists’ Community Action and Leadership Exchange (SCALE) programme, which promotes cross-cultural understanding, leadership, and collaboration among students from Singapore’s Institute of Technical Education (ITE) and their Southeast Asian counterparts.
Over six days from September to October 2025, HMGICS will host 240 student participants of the TF-SCALE programme from ITE and four ASEAN schools for immersive Learning Journeys at its innovation center. Students will gain first-hand exposure to advanced manufacturing, future mobility, and sustainability, while building connections with peers from across the region.
Beyond TF-SCALE, the collaboration will explore new initiatives, such as equipping youths with future-of-work readiness skills and providing platforms for sustainability innovations. This shared effort reflects HMGICS’s and Temasek Foundation’s commitment to develop the next generation through education, innovation and community engagement.
One Year of Growing Together with Singapore
Since opening in 2023, HMGICS has played a pivotal role in Hyundai Motor Group’s transition to a smart mobility solution provider. Serving as a testbed for future mobility, HMGICS integrates production, R&D, and customer experience in one location, aiming to transform the mobility value chain through innovation in products, production processes, and customer engagement.
Aligned with Singapore’s vision for a smart, sustainable future and an innovation-driven economy, HMGICS is committed to growing alongside Singapore by nurturing local talent, supporting economic transformation, and creating opportunities for collaboration with local institutions. Its focus on human-centric innovation reflects the belief that technology should empower people and communities, preparing the next generation with the skills and experiences needed to lead future industries.
In its first year, HMGICS has launched multi-year initiatives that combine technology with social impact. These include student learning programs and early innovation exposure at ITE, Ngee Ann Polytechnic, Singapore Institute of Technology, Singapore University of Technology and Design, and LASALLE College of the Arts, as well as EV donations of made-in-Singapore IONIQ 5 vehicles for technical learning. HMGICS also supports the community through Smart Farm produce contributions to The Food Bank Singapore, programs for disadvantaged youth and students with special needs, and hands-on engagement via Discovery Tours, Smart Food Lab, and SPOT robot coding workshops.
Sustainability initiatives, such as participation in Go Green SG, reflect HMGICS’s commitment to responsible innovation. The company has also engaged communities through activities marking 50 years of diplomatic relations between Singapore and South Korea, highlighting its role in fostering cultural and community connections.
The technologies and innovations pioneered at HMGICS continue to drive sustainable progress while creating real-world opportunities for young people and local communities.
Through advanced manufacturing, human-centric innovation, and community engagement, HMGICS is growing together with Singapore and equipping the next generation with the skills, experiences, and inspiration needed to shape the industries of the future.
