Genesis and Hyundai Motor Top Premium and Mass-Market Categories in J.D. Power 2023 US Tech Experience Index Study
SEOUL, August 25, 2023 – Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) is pleased to announce that its Genesis and Hyundai Motor brands have topped the premium and mass-market categories in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) StudySM for their high level of advanced technologies.
The U.S. TXI Study provides a single measure that includes the penetration levels of advanced technologies (market depth) and consumers’ assessment of a technology’s execution quality across a brand (excellence in execution). The study measures how effectively each brand brings technologies to market on a 1,000-point scale and analyzes 40 technologies divided into four categories, including convenience; emerging automation; energy and sustainability; and infotainment and connectivity.
J.D. Power designated Genesis as its highest ranked brand for tech innovation in the J.D. Power 2023 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study for the third year in a row. Genesis also earned the top Innovation Index score of 656 by offering a range of advanced technologies across its product lineup.
In particular, J.D. Power recognized Genesis GV80’s Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) with Junction-turning Detection with the Emerging Automation Award. FCA is a comprehensive monitoring system that warns drivers of potential collisions by utilizing front view cameras and corner radars. The available junction-turning feature provides greater protection by automatically applying brakes at the right time. When an on-coming vehicle is detected during a left turn at an intersection, the feature may warn the driver and provide braking assistance to prevent a possible collision.
We are pleased that our customers have recognized our vehicle’s class-leading technologies in this year’s TXI study. Genesis is committed to putting our customers’ needs first and offers intuitive technologies that enhance the driving experience.

J.D. Power named Hyundai Motor as the overall innovation leader in the U.S. TXI Mass Market Innovation Index for the fourth straight year. The brand earned a top Innovation Index score of 547 in the mass-market category by offering a range of advanced technologies across its product lineup.
In particular, the 2023 Hyundai PALISADE received the Emerging Automation Award for Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), which can help avoid collisions with rearward objects detected. After the warning, if the risk of the collision remains, it can assist with emergency braking.
In addition, the 2023 Hyundai SONATA received the Infotainment and Connectivity Award for the phone-based Digital Key technology, an optional feature that enables drivers to start the engine of the car using a smartphone app and near-field communication (NFC) instead of a physical key.
These awards not only acknowledge the PALISADE and SONATA’s remarkable achievements, but also reinforces Hyundai Motor’s dedication to elevating the automotive industry through innovation and underscore its steadfast commitment to pioneering advancements that redefine the driving experience.
“At the core of our product development philosophy lies the principle of delivering innovative solutions tailored to fulfill our customers’ exact needs,” said Ricky Lao, director, product planning, Hyundai Motor North America. “We enhance customer peace of mind by offering cutting-edge advanced driver assistance systems and user-friendly convenience features, showcasing our dedication to prioritizing customer safety and overall satisfaction.”
The 2023 U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) Study is based on responses from 82,472 owners of new 2023 model-year vehicles who were surveyed after 90 days of ownership. The study was fielded from February through May 2023.
The U.S. TXI Study complements the annual J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study (IQS)SM and the J.D. Power U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM by measuring how effectively each automotive brand brings new technologies to market. The U.S. TXI Study combines the level of adoption of new technologies for each brand with excellence in execution. The execution measurement examines how much owners like the technologies and how many problems they experience while using them.
