Offenbach am Main, 18 November 2025 – The all-electric Hyundai INSTER has been awarded the Golden Steering Wheel by AUTO BILD & BILD am SONNTAG* in the “Vehicles under €25,000” category, a particularly important, fast-growing and highly competitive segment of the German market.
The success at the Golden Steering Wheel awards underlines what has also convinced German drivers; Hyundai INSTER is Germany's best-selling electric small car this year. With its high suitability for everyday use, generous space, and excellent price-performance ratio, the electric city runabout was clearly superior to its competitors and impressed the experienced editors in all categories.
“Hyundai INSTER is a powerful example of how we deliver accessible mobility solutions. It reflects our commitment to making electric vehicles available to everyone – smart, stylish, and designed for real life,” said Xavier Martinet, President & CEO of Hyundai Motor Europe. “This recognition confirms that our vision resonates with customers across Europe. We will keep expanding our EV portfolio, bringing progressive design, advanced technology, and everyday usability to all our vehicles: from INSTER all the way to IONIQ 9.”
Whether it's standard equipment, modern technology, space, or range, Hyundai INSTER has been setting standards in the all-electric small car segment since its introduction last December. Even in the entry-level Select^ version it offers a digital cockpit with a 10.3-inch display and 10.3-inch touchscreen, a navigation system and smartphone integration via Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™. At a fast-charging station, INSTER can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in approximately 30 minutes with a highly-competitive charging capacity of up to 85 kW as standard. It's an impressive all-round package, as the registration figures show. Since the summer, Hyundai INSTER has been the best-selling fully electric vehicle in the small car segment in Germany. In addition, Hyundai INSTER was awarded the title “World Electric Vehicle 2025” in the spring.
Since 1976, the Golden Steering Wheel has been honouring the best new cars of the year. This year, after the readers' vote, a total of 21 vehicles in eight classes made it to the final, including Hyundai INSTER in the micro/small car category. Ultimately, the test editors at Auto Bild awarded Hyundai INSTER the Golden Steering Wheel for the best car under €25,000. In making their decision, the test professionals took into account handling, everyday usability, quality, sustainability, and value for money.
