LOS ANGELES, November 16, 2023 – Hyundai’s award-winning IONIQ 61)electric vehicle has been named a finalist for the coveted 2024 North American Car of the Year Award (NACTOY). Award finalists were announced at a Los Angeles Auto Show press conference today.

Fifty journalists from the U.S. and Canada make up the NACTOY jury, representing dozens of leading automotive outlets from print, online, and broadcast media. Jurors are required to evaluate all eligible new vehicles over the course of the year.


The IONIQ 6 has received numerous accolades since its debut, including 2023 World Car of the Year, World Electric Vehicle, and World Car Design of the Year, as well as Car and Driver’s EV of the Year. In addition, Consumer Reports named IONIQ 6 the highest-rated EV car and its all-electric powertrain has been recognized as having one of the 2023 Wards 10 Best Engines & Propulsion Systems.

The IONIQ 6 is equipped with the latest technology and best-in-class ultra-fast 800-volt/350kW charging capability that can charge the battery from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 18 minutes using a 350kW DC charger. Hyundai recently announced 2024 model year pricing, and IONIQ 6 is launching with a repackaged SE Standard Range model carrying an MSRP starting at $37,5002). The top-of-the-line Limited AWD with the larger battery pack has an MSRP starting at $53,6503).

The IONIQ 6 includes several unique features that help it stand apart from other EVs including:

  • Awarded a TOP SAFETY PICK+ designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety(IIHS4)).
  • A particularly generous 116-inch wheelbase gives plenty of room to all occupants, especially those in the rear.
  • The ultra-low drag coefficient of 0.22 is achieved by active air flaps, full underbody covers, wheel-gap reducers and an elliptical spoiler and winglet.
  • Aerodynamic machined 18- or 20-inch alloy wheels look great while also helping to achieve an ultra-low drag coefficient.
  • To qualify for 2023 TOP SAFETY PICK+, a vehicle must earn good ratings in the driver-side small overlap front, passenger-side small overlap front and original moderate overlap front tests and no less than acceptable in the updated side test. It also must earn an advanced or superior rating for daytime and nighttime vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention and come with standard acceptable- or good-rated headlights.
