FOUNTAIN VALLEY, Calif., Dec. 8, 2022 – The 2022 Hyundai IONIQ 5 has won the Editors’ Choice Award in the 2022 Motor1.com Star Awards. Motor1.com’s second annual Star Awards considers all new vehicles that have been rated by its team of expert editors. Using a Star Rating system, Motor1.com chose winners for seven awards. The awards are Best Electric, Best Performance, Best Luxury, Best Truck, Best SUV, Best Value and the most coveted – Editors’ Choice. This year, 20 new vehicles were up for Editors’ Choice, an accolade that Motor1.com editors give to the vehicle that excels above all others during its on-site Test Week.
“We thank the editors at Motor1.com for this prestigious award.” said Olabisi Boyle, vice president of product planning and mobility strategy, Hyundai Motor North America. “The Editor’s Choice award is a testament to the IONIQ 5’s ability to stand out with its innovative technology, comfortable interior, and impressive all-electric driving range at an accessible price.”
The highly acclaimed IONIQ 5 is the first model in Hyundai’s dedicated BEV lineup brand: IONIQ. The IONIQ 5 offers ultra-fast charging capabilities for a 10 to 80 percent charge in just 18 minutes[i], a driving range of more than 300 miles[ii] for the RWD trim, and a highly spacious interior. Its standout features include Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) technology, advanced connectivity and driver assistance systems that offer the ultimate in-car experience.
"As you can imagine, winning the Editors’ Choice Award this year wasn’t easy, but the IONIQ 5 was a clear standout amongst all of the vehicles tested,” said Seyth Miersma, editor in chief, Motor1.com. For the owner who wants something comfortable, engaging, functional and striking to look at, the IONIQ 5 is an obvious choice."
