Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates allow your Hyundai to seamlessly update its software through wireless communication, keeping your vehicle up to date with the latest enhancements for optimal performance, smarter technology, and a more refined driving experience.

Update notification
When a new update is available, your vehicle downloads it automatically and notifies you via the infotainment screen. You choose when to install it. Just ensure the vehicle is parked and inactive, as it can’t be driven, charged, or accessed via the Bluelink™ app during installation. The process may vary in time depending on the update. Once complete, you’ll see a confirmation on-screen with a QR code for more details, or you can check the update info online. It’s a simple way to ensure your Hyundai always performs at its best.

Your updates, your schedule.
When a new update becomes available, the vehicle automatically downloads the software over the air and gets ready to update. You will be prompted to install the software update via the in-vehicle infotainment screen. You can start with the update immediately after turning off the ignition or schedule a time at your convenience.

What are OTA updates?
Today’s vehicles are rolling computers. Therefore, to keep their performance up-to-date without you having to visit a dealership, we have introduced technology to send and install software updates over the air (via the Internet) to the cars directly – the same way that computers and smartphones get updates. These kind of software updates are called Over-the-Air (OTA) updates. OTA car updates are commonly applied to vehicle system and infotainment software.
Which models are applicable for OTA Updates?
Currently, only the STARIA Hybrid and IONIQ 5 are equipped with Bluelink and OTA updates.
Are the OTA Updates free of charge?
OTA updates are FREE of charge during the complimentary period of Bluelink services (FREE 3-year subscription). In order to keep using the OTA updates after the complimentary period, you would need to extend your subscription of Bluelink.
Is there anything to keep in mind when conducting OTA updates?
The infotainment system will guide your which steps are necessary to conduct a vehicle software update successfully. There is nothing what you can do wrong.
After turning off the engine and pressing the update "Start" button – Do I have to wait in the car until the installation is finished?
The vehicle update should be performed according to the instructions on the Infotainment screen. There are certain requirements you may have to fulfil. Once this is done, you can leave the car and do not have to wait until the update installation is finished.
