SEOUL, August 3, 2020 – Hyundai Motor Company announced July global sales of 313,097 units, which is a 12.5 percent decrease from a year earlier. The decrease mainly stems from the slowdown in economic activities resulting from COVID-19 pandemic.
Korea Sales
Sales in Hyundai’s home market increased 28.4 percent year-over-year to 77,381 units. Popular models such as GRANDEUR sedan (sold as AZERA in some markets) continues to lead domestic sales with 14,381 units. Strong performance of Genesis brand, with the all-new G80 sedan and GV80 SUV model, also helped to maintain sales momentum in Korea.
Overseas Sales
In other markets, Hyundai recorded sales of 235,716 units, a 20.8-percent decrease from a year earlier, mainly due to the economic downturn from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hyundai Motor will continue to proactively manage risks and minimize the business impact of COVID-19. The company is implementing various schemes to take care of its customers, such as extending warranty periods and launching new models online.
