SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 17, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Group (the Group) today opens the HMG Tech Talent Forum 2026 in Silicon Valley, bringing together global talent, industry experts and the Group’s technology leaders to share insights on the future of mobility and emerging technologies.

Under the theme “Go Beyond Together,” the two-day Forum offers participants an opportunity to experience the Group’s technology vision, real-world innovation projects and diverse career opportunities across its global technology network.

What Will Happen at Today’s Opening?

The Forum opens this afternoon at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center with a welcome reception, followed by keynote speeches with four of the Group’s top technology and HR leaders. Structured as a relay in which each speaker is introduced after the next, the session reflects the cross-affiliate collaboration at the heart of the Forum’s “Global One Team” message.

In total, nine of the Group’s affiliates are hosting the event: Hyundai Motor Company, Hyundai Motor America (HMA), Kia Corporation, Kia America, Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc. (HATCI), Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant America (HMGMA), Boston Dynamics, Motional and 42dot.

What Will the Group’s Leaders Cover During the Keynotes?

In the keynote speeches, Hyundai Motor Group’s key leaders will share the Group’s future technology vision and approach to advancing innovation through engineering, AI, real-world deployment and global talent.

José Muñoz, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, will deliver the Forum's opening keynote, "Our Future Business & Tech Strategy" During the speech, he will outline the Group’s future business and technology strategy and vision for leading the next era of mobility.

Hyundai is becoming a technology and physical AI company. We are building robots, deploying autonomous vehicles, and developing software to make it all work seamlessly. The strength of our core business, and the scale provided by the Hyundai Motor Group, means we have the financial firepower and scale to achieve our ambitious vision. We’re looking forward to sharing that vision with some of the world’s top tech talent at this forum.

José Muñoz

President and CEO, Hyundai Motor Company

Manfred Harrer, President and Head of R&D Division of Hyundai Motor Group, will highlight the Group’s approach to combining strong engineering fundamentals with AI-enabled and virtual development capabilities. He will also share the Group’s ambition to become a reference point for advanced engineering across vehicle hardware and software, batteries, hydrogen and robotics.

Fundamentals first. Then innovation on top. I believe it is the path that creates products people can trust. And it creates an engineering organization where talented people can learn, grow, and make a real impact. The question is not physical versus virtual — it's how we combine decades of real-world engineering experience with the speed of virtual development and AI. This is where I want this organization to lead, not follow.

Manfred Harrer

President and Head of R&D Division, Hyundai Motor Group

Minwoo Park, President and Head of the Advanced Vehicle Platform (AVP) Division of Hyundai Motor Group and CEO of 42dot, will share the Group’s Physical AI vision, centered on real-world data and continuous learning to advance safer, more intelligent mobility. Park will point to the Group's global scale and the vast real-world data generated by producing seven to eight million vehicles annually across diverse regions, climates and markets as key to its Physical AI plans.

The truth is, many of the hardest problems are still unsolved. That's what makes this moment so exciting. We're building a world-class Physical AI organization, powered by real-world experience,

real-world deployment, and real-world impact.

Minwoo Park

President and Head of Advanced Vehicle Platform Division, Hyundai Motor Group, and CEO of 42dot

Hae In Kim, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer of Hyundai Motor Group, will present how the Group brings together technology, global scale and talent to turn innovation into real-world impact. Kim will point to the Group's global ecosystem — more than 75 group companies, over 336,000 people including more than 20,000 researchers and engineers, and 32 R&D centers — as the foundation that allows ideas to move quickly from concept to real-world deployment.

Why Hyundai? Technology. Scale. People. The technology to work on some of the most important challenges ahead. The scale to turn ideas into real-world impact. And the opportunity to work alongside people who will challenge you, teach you, and make you better. For those of you considering where to take your career next, my message is simple. Hyundai is a place where you can do meaningful work, take on bigger challenges, and grow alongside some of the best.

Hae In Kim

Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer, Hyundai Motor Group

What Will Be Discussed During the Leaders Panel Talk?

Under the theme “Technology Shaping What’s Next,” the Leaders Panel Talk will bring together Manfred Harrer and Minwoo Park with other Group leaders including:

  • ChangHwan Kim, Executive Vice President and Head of the Electrification Energy Solutions Tech Unit of Hyundai Motor Group
  • Zach Jackowski, Chief Product and Technology Officer of Boston Dynamics
  • Phil Michel, Senior Vice President of Autonomy & AI of Motional
  • Alpesh Patel, Vice President and Head of the SDF Transformation Center of Hyundai Motor Group

The panel will explore how AI, robotics, autonomous driving, electrification and smart manufacturing will reshape industries over the next decade, and the Group’s role in driving this transformation.

Panelists will discuss a range of topics including the future of Physical AI, software-defined manufacturing, next-generation energy solutions, and the challenges of scaling emerging technologies in real-world environments.

The session will also examine how organizations can move from proof-of-concept projects to continuous learning and deployment at scale, both on the road and on the factory floor, followed by a live Q&A with participants.

What Are Engineers Exploring in the Tech Sessions?

The Forum also features Tech Sessions across six core areas:

  • AI
  • Robotics
  • Autonomous driving
  • Smart manufacturing
  • SW/IT
  • Hydrogen/energy/battery

Held on the opening day, the first Tech Session will bring together Group leaders and affiliate experts to share insights from real-world developments on the six technical areas, including Physical AI, E&E architecture and electrification technology.

The second Tech Session, to be held on September 18, will feature in-depth project case studies from participating companies. These include presentations on robot deployment strategy, end-to-end autonomous driving systems, next-generation SDV architecture, and battery research.

The two-day Tech Sessions will feature a total of 36 speakers, including 27 Group employees and executives as well as nine external presenters.
