HMC delivered Blue-on, an express electric car, to the City of Ulsan on April 27. 30 of this unique vehicle were produced in last November to aid the G20 Summit in Korea. After distributing the vehicles to the key governmental agencies in the Seoul-Gyeonggi Region as well as to Ulsan, the company will spread the vehicles around other regions of South Korea, including Daegu, Gwangju, Jeonbuk, and Gangwon. Ulsan will collect the data on the performance and evaluation of Blue-on as it will be used at the Ulsan Auto Parts Innovation Center and use the information in its monitoring project as part of its Green Electric Vehicles Program.
Ulsan is currently operating three vehicles (including a small car and a freight truck) that have been converted into electric cars. The addition of Blue-on to its electric car project will help stimulate the local auto industry and research activities. HMC invested a total of 40 billion won and an entire year into developing Blue-on based on its small hatch-back model known as i10. Blue-on can speed up to 130km/h and can drive for 140km after each charging session.
