Hyundai Motor Carries Out CSR Activities in Brazil

- Student volunteers build houses in Sao Paolo, visit orphanages in Piracicaba
- Third round of volunteers, donations to Brazil from Hyundai

Students from Hyundai Motor Company’s volunteer program carried out a variety of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities in Brazil, including building houses and delivering donations at Sao Paolo and Piracicaba, where Hyundai’s seventh overseas plant will be located.

About 60 Korean university students from the ‘Happy Move Youth Volunteers,’ Hyundai’s official global volunteering program, took part in Habitat for Humanity Brazil’s ‘Tidying Up the House’ project between Feb. 1~6, which aims to offer safer living conditions to about 1,000 households in the poor areas of Sao Paolo.

The students also delivered Hyundai Motor’s donation of approximately US$30,000 (R$50,000) and US$40,000 to the city of Piracicaba and the Habitat for Humanity Brazil in Sao Paolo, respectively.

Separately, on Jan. 28, Chonbuk Hyundai FC, a Hyundai-sponsored team, played a friendly match with a local football team, XV de Piracicaba, in Piracicaba, where Hyundai’s Brazil plant will be built. The match was attended by about 10,000 guests, including the Piracicaba Mayor, Hyundai dealers and community members. Throughout the rest of their stay, the students carried out volunteer work at the city’s vocational schools, orphanages and other welfare facilities.

Hyundai Motor’s ‘Happy Move Global Youth Volunteers’ is the biggest private volunteering program in Korea, designed to extend its contribution to the global community and train future global leaders.

A total of 1,000 university students are sent annually to disadvantaged areas to offer various community services, medical aid and cultural exchange activities. This year, the group is volunteering in Brazil, Egypt, China, India and the Philippines.

Aside from ‘Happy Move Global Youth Volunteers,’ Hyundai Motor will continuously make efforts to fulfill social responsibilities as a global citizen through various forms of CSR activities in Brazil.
