  • Operating profit declines to KRW 2.85 trillion, down 20.8% Y/y; Oper. profit margin of 5.8%
  • Global wholesale volume totals 991,885 units, down 6.9%; U.S. market grows 0.9%, maintaining 6% market share for fifth consecutive quarter

SEOUL, July 23, 2026 – Hyundai Motor Company today announced its highest-ever quarterly revenue of KRW 49.22 trillion for the second quarter of 2026, up 1.9 percent year on year. Strong hybrid-led sales and market expansion in North America drove the growth.

Operating profit stood at KRW 2.85 trillion for the April–June period, down 20.8 percent from a year earlier, with an operating profit margin of 5.8 percent. Production constraints from supplier operation disruptions, coupled with elevated raw material costs and intensifying global competition, weighed on profitability. Net profit, including non-controlling interests, decreased 11.2% to KRW 2.89 trillion.

Hyundai Motor’s global wholesale volume reached 991,885 units in the second quarter, a 6.9 percent decrease year on year. In Korea, sales declined 16.4 percent to 157,647 units, primarily due to supplier-related production constraints.

Sales outside Korea fell 4.9 percent to 834,238 units. However, the North American market demonstrated resilience, with U.S. wholesale volume increasing 0.9 percent to 264,587 units. The company maintained a 6 percent U.S. market share, marking the fifth consecutive quarter.

Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) sales led global electrified model growth, achieving record-high quarterly performance of 187,661 units and capturing 18.9 percent of total global sales – the highest quarterly share on record. This reflects strong market acceptance across key regions.

Overall electrified model sales – including HEV, electric vehicle (EV), plug-in hybrid vehicle (PHEV) and fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) – rose 1.7 percent year on year to 266,627 units. EV sales reached 69,366 units, supported by strong performance in Europe.

Electrified vehicles collectively represented 26.9 percent of the company’s total global sales in the second quarter, marking a record-high quarterly share. This performance underscores the company's market leadership in electrification and its ability to flexibly meet evolving customer preferences through a diversified powertrain portfolio.

The company maintained its quarterly dividend at KRW 2,500 per common share, underscoring its commitment to shareholder value.

Despite intensifying industry competition, Hyundai Motor remains committed to achieving its annual guidance announced at the beginning of 2026. The company targets consolidated revenue growth of between 1 to 2 percent, an annual operating profit margin of 6.3 to 7.3 percent, and annual wholesale sales of 4.16 million units.

Hyundai Motor will drive growth through major new model launches. The lineup includes the new GRANDEUR with hybrid-electric options, complete model changes for ELANTRA, and the launch of IONIQ 3 in Europe and other regions.

Hyundai Motor will continue to flexibly respond to evolving market demand through its diversified powertrain portfolio and tailored regional strategies to sustain long-term growth amid geopolitical uncertainties and intensifying competition.
