What is the WLTP range of the IONIQ 9 in European driving conditions?

How fast does the IONIQ 9 charge from 10% to 80% on European charging networks like IONITY or EnBW?

IONIQ 9 allows you to add 304 km of range in just 15 minutes or charge from 10% to 80% in around 24 minutes at high-power charging networks like IONITY and EnBW – with their ultra-fast chargers that deliver up to 400 kW. IONIQ 9’s 800V battery system has a peak charge rate of up to 257 kW and supports charging at 350 and 400 kW stations.

How quickly does IONIQ 9 accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h?

In the all-wheel drive Performance variant, IONIQ 9 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds.

Does IONIQ 9 support both 400V and 800V charging infrastructures? 

Yes, IONIQ 9 features an innovative combination of 400V and 800V charging technology that gives you the flexibility of using a different charger if one type is occupied. And that means you can get in and out of charging stations faster when you’re on the road.

Does IONIQ 9 have AI?

Yes, IONIQ 9 comes equipped with Hyundai AI Assistant powered by generative AI. It is an AI-enabled voice recognition system similar to a home virtual assistant.

Can the AI Assistant help find nearby chargers or plan a route with optimal charging? 

Yes, the Hyundai AI Assistant can find nearby chargers and navigate to POIs. (The voice command would be e.g. "Find the nearest charging station".)

You can start route planning via voice recognition, e.g. "Navigate to Paris."– but then you have to confirm the charging points in the EV route planner. The EV Route Planner in IONIQ 9 shows you real-time charging station information such as state of charge at arrival, connector types and charging station availability. Enter a destination and the navigation system automatically suggests charging points along the way. 

What can the Hyundai AI Assistant (powered by generative AI) actually do? 

The Hyundai AI Assistant enhances the driving experience by enabling drivers to interact with their vehicle in a more natural, conversational way. Built on generative AI, it can understand and respond to open‑ended, general questions — adding a powerful new layer to our existing voice command ecosystem.

Can I control climate or navigation using natural language? 

Yes, you can control climate and navigation. Simply say “Hey Hyundai, Drive me home”, the navigation will start the journey to your set home location. Also, say: “Hey Hyundai, Increase the temperature.” The climate will change the setting accordingly. Please note the differences for each language setting, see therefore the answer of the next question.

Does “Hey Hyundai” understand multiple languages (e.g., German, French, Italian)?

Yes, the Hyundai AI Assistant currently supports multiple languages including German, English (UK), Spanish, French, Italian and Dutch. For many other languages Hyundai vehicles offer simple Voice Recognition commands.

The wake-up word „Hey Hyundai“ is currently only available for German and English (UK). Other languages support Voice Command via pressing the Voice command button on the steering wheel.

What is included in “Features on Demand” and can I add features later via OTA updates?

Currently, the IONIQ 9 offers three Digital Features & Services, these are: Virtual Gear Shift, Lighting Patterns (+5 additional patterns) and Display Themes (2 themes, for free currently). You can find these Features inside the Bluelink Store via the myHyundai app. Here you find more information and you can purchase them. Throughout the year, we will add more Digital Features & Services to the portfolio, mainly the Entertainment Package and more Display Theme designs.

How do I use the Remote Smart Parking Assist? 

IONIQ 9 can park itself automatically with the driver inside – and even outside the car. The IONIQ 9 detects an available parking space after activating the Parking function by pressing the Parking button. After the detection, the customer can select to have the IONIQ 9 parked remotely from the outside or from inside the vehicle. The following parking manoeuvres are possible: remote forward + backward, smart parking reverse, smart exit, backward parking diagonal.

Does Hyundai Digital Key allow me to share with multiple users?

Yes, you can also easily share Hyundai Digital Key 2 with up to 15 additional smartphones, allowing your family and friends to enjoy access to the vehicle after saving it in their phone’s wallet. When sharing your key, you can even customise the level of access each person receives, ensuring full control and peace of mind. Now you can leave your car key at home – because Hyundai Digital Key 2 is part of our innovative Bluelink Connected Car Services. For more convenience, IONIQ 9 can be locked, unlocked, and started via smartphones or Apple Watch. 

What are the dimensions of the IONIQ 9?

The IONIQ 9 is 5,060 mm long and 1,980 mm wide, with a height of 1,790 mm.

What is the boot capacity of the IONIQ 9?

Even when all three rows of seats in IONIQ 9 are up and in place – the roomy boot gives you 338 litres of cargo capacity – which easily fits four golf bags or three full-sized 25” suitcases and more. Need more space? Fold the 3rd row seats flat for 908 litres of cargo capacity and 2494 litres when both the 2nd and 3rd rows are down flat.

How much cargo space does the IONIQ 9 have with different seat configurations? 

The roomy boot gives you 338 litres of cargo capacity when all three rows of seats in IONIQ 9 are up and in place. With all rear seats folded flat, cargo volume increases to 2,494 litres for the six-seater version and 2,419 litres for the seven-seater. Fold the 3rd row seats flat for best in class 908 litres of cargo capacity. 

Is the 3rd row comfortable for adults on long trips? 

Yes, the IONIQ 9 has been created with superior roominess and comfort in all three rows. Sit back and relax with powered 3rd row seats that recline for maximum comfort.  To be specific, in the 3rd row: IONIQ 9 provides 1.008 mm of headroom, 813 mm of legroom and 1.398 mm of shoulder room.

How many seats does the IONIQ 9 have and are the seats individually adjustable or swivel seats?

IONIQ 9 is available as a 6 or 7-seater. There are two versions of the 6-seater available. A 6-seater version with individually adjustable Premium Relaxation Seats in the 1st and 2nd row.  Additionally, the 6-seater is also available with individually adjustable Swiveling Seats in the 2nd row.

The 7-seater version is available with 1st row Premium Relaxation Seats (individually adjustable) and 2nd row bench seats which fold flat 60:40 for even more versatility.

What colours does the IONIQ 9 come in?

The IONIQ 9 comes in 10 different exterior colours. Visit the car configurator [link] to see all possible combinations.

What motor and drivetrain configurations are available on the IONIQ 9?

The IONIQ 9 comes in 3 different powertrains: RWD single motor, AWD dual motor and Performance dual motor. RWD (rear wheel-drive) with a 160 kW rear motor, AWD (all wheel-drive) with a 70 kW front motor and 160 kW rear motor, and Performance AWD (all wheel-drive) with 160 kW motors front and rear.

What is the towing capacity of the IONIQ 9?

The IONIQ 9 can tow up to 2,500 kg. And in trailer mode, it automatically detects the trailer's weight and adjusts predicted range accordingly.

Is Vehicle-to-Grid (V2G) or Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) supported yet? 

Technically IONIQ 9 supports V2G & V2H but it is not available in the market yet. Hyundai is currently developing solutions with external partners to launch V2G in the first market.

How do I set up and manage the Bluelink/myHyundai app?

Can multiple family members have separate app logins? 

Yes, this is possible. The main user can share the app & vehicle access via the myHyundai app.

Does the vehicle show up in apps like ABRP (A Better Routeplanner)?

Yes, ABRP lists the IONIQ 9. For peace-of-mind during a longer journey, we strongly recommend customers to use the EV Route Planner integrated in the IONIQ 9. Customers are able to set the state of charge (SOC) for the arrival at their destination and the next charging stations. Also, customers are able to filter charging station providers and charging speed.

When will the IONIQ 9 be available in my country?

The IONIQ 9 is available for purchase today. Pre-orders in Europe already opened mid-2025 in some European markets. Contact your local Hyundai dealer for more information.

Can I lease IONIQ 9, and what are typical European lease terms?

IONIQ 9 delivers exceptional cold-weather performance with an advanced HVAC system, heat pump technology and climate pre-conditioning to enhance efficiency and cabin comfort. IONIQ 9’s heating, ventilation and air-conditioning (HVAC) system demonstrates exceptional efficiency even in very cold weather conditions thanks to Hyundai Motor’s advanced engineering innovations. The system features a heat pump that recycles waste heat, ensuring that energy is utilised efficiently to maintain a comfortable cabin temperature without drawing heavily from the battery.

Has the IONIQ 9 won any European awards or recognitions?

The all-electric SUV Hyundai IONIQ 9 has won the coveted title of ‘German Premium Car of the Year 2026’. The three-row electric SUV clearly stood out from the competition with strong overall ratings. It impressed the independent GCOTY jury with its elegant, aerodynamic exterior design, pioneering fast-charging technology and a lounge-like interior that offers drivers and passengers numerous comfortable and high-quality personalisation options.

Is IONIQ 9 considered premium compared to German rivals?

Yes, according to the jury of the German Car of the Year 2026 award where Hyundai’s all-electric flagship SUV IONIQ 9 won in the premium category of the ‘German Car of the Year 2026’ award. The GCOTY jury consists of around 40 experienced and independent motor journalists. Based on extensive test drives, they select the class winners in the categories “Compact”, “Premium”, “Luxury”, “New Energy” and “Performance”. The five models have been selected from all the major new launches of the past twelve months.
