• July sales total 339,694 units, decrease of 6.5% YoY
• To build new sales momentum by accelerating the rollout of SUVs in major markets
SEOUL, August 1, 2018 — Hyundai Motor Company, South Korea's largest automaker, today announced its global sales results for July 2018, recording a total of 339,694 units sold.
Overseas sales decreased by 8% year-over-year, posting 279,327 units, due in large part to weaker sales in China and loss of production from strikes in Korean plants.
The sales in Korea rose by 1.3% compared with the previous year, resulting in 60,367 units sold. Sales increased following strong demand in the company’s small- and mid-sized SUV products. The all-new Santa Fe became the best-selling model in Korea for the fifth consecutive month.
Hyundai Motor plans to build new sales momentum by accelerating the roll-out of SUV models in major markets including the U.S., Europe, and China.
The company expects the all-new Santa Fe and refreshed Tucson SUVs to strengthen its competitiveness in the U.S. and Europe markets in the second half.
In China, Hyundai Motor will continue to focus on the recently launched Encino as well as refreshed Tucson and Lafesta which await roll-out in coming months.
