(Frankfurt, Germany) With 20 days to go until the FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany 2011™ kicks off, Hyundai Motor Company - one of FIFA’s official partners - today officially delivers hundreds of vehicles to the local organizing committee (LOC) of FIFA Women’s World Cup™, including buses that will transport 11 teams of the 16 qualified nations.

Hyundai Motor will hand over 289 sedans and sport utility vehicles such as ix35, Santa Fe, ix55 and H1, as well as 11 team buses that are Hyundai branded. These vehicles will be used by FIFA officials, national teams, members of the organizing committee, referees, exclusive guests and media representatives throughout the tournament, which takes place from June 26 to July 17.

“The opportunity to provide VIP transport at this momentous tournament gives us the high visibility we need in Europe and the world to raise awareness of our brand and products,” Mr. Chang Kyun Han, President of Hyundai Motor Europe GmbH, said today during the official handover ceremony at the World Cup stadium in Frankfurt, Germany. “FIFA’s football tournaments convey dynamism, excitement and passion. They are precisely the attributes we want to deliver and share with our customers,” he added.

The handover ceremony was attended by German football superstar Jürgen Klinsmann, who is Hyundai’s brand ambassador in Germany; LOC President Steffi Jones, LOC general coordinator Ulrich Wolter, Hyundai Motor Deutschland GmbH CEO Werner H. Frey, and FIFA officials and media members.

“Hyundai Motor is FIFA’s strong mobility partner with rich experience, sponsoring all of FIFA’s football tournaments since the 1999 Women’s World Cup USA™,” Jones said. “Again with Hyundai, we have no doubt that we will successfully carry out 2011 FIFA Women’s World Cup Germany™.”

Globally, the synergies between Hyundai and football began in 1999 when Hyundai signed on as a FIFA sponsor, raising its brand profile to an international level. Hyundai is now one of the strongest supporters of football in the world, as the official sponsor of the 2002 FIFA World Cup Korea / Japan™, the 2006 FIFA World Cup Germany™ and the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa™, as well as many other FIFA tournaments including the FIFA Confederations Cup. The company has extended its strategic sponsorship agreement with FIFA to cover the 2014 and 2022 World Cups.
